Argentina may not yet realise the lasting image they left behind after that final against Spain and it is difficult to see how they will ever repair it.
The footage of players and coaching staff physically confronting and attacking opponents on the pitch is deeply disturbing and impossible to excuse.
They did not just lose a World Cup final. They damaged the reputation of their football in front of the entire world.
Football will remember what Argentina did long after the result itself is forgotten.

En lisant la presse espagnole, je découvre qu'outre la bagarre déclenchée au moment du coup de sifflet final, les Argentins ont tourné le dos à l'équipe d'Espagne lors de la cérémonie de remise du trophée. Après un jeu indigent, un comportement de petites frappes jusqu'au bout. Une équipe indigne du début à la fin.

@comoundisparo The rest of the world just realized why we do it this year and joined us as well. It's not a hate against the country but it's about the posture of their national squad and how they treat football. Bad winners and even worse losers.

Non-Argentine Latin Americans routinely root for any other team against Argentina. I took in the 2014 World Cup final in a packed Mexican bar in NYC and the entire bar was cheering for Germany. Anti-Argentina sentiment is neither novel nor primarily Anglo in provenance.

Uma pena que essa final tão espetacular de Copa tenha sido transformada por muitos em bem x mal, o que talvez impeça tanta gente de apenas curtir um enorme jogo de futebol. If we're relying on anecdotes, I have non-Argentine LatAm mutuals like @MishimaFudanshi who were rooting for Argentina.
