Happy birthday 🎂 @Merakudus Merhawi Kudus, the champion of Africa! He was born on January 23, 1994, and is celebrating his 32nd birthday today, January 23, 2026. Merhawi is an Eritrean professional cyclist who currently rides for the UCI ProTeam Burgos Burpellet BH. Mera's Achievements! African Road Race Champion: He won the African Road Race Championships in 2025. National Champion: He has secured three national titles across the road race and time trial disciplines. Grand Tour Pioneer: In 2015, he was one of the first two black African riders, himself and Daniel TekleHaimanot ( @DanielTeklehai1 ) to start and pioneer the Tour de France. Overall Winner: He won the general classification at the 2019 Tour du Rwanda

Congrats to Eritrea and my former colleague @MeraKudus on taking the win at African Conti Champs yesterday!! They definitely deserved it and rode like a unit! I tried my best, but final climb was just a bit too steep and the cramps started to set in after 4hrs in the sauna 😓
