@Gratefulga73935 Usually people leave the Church because they were:
•poorly catechized, so they don't know the faith
•had a bad experience with someone acting outside of teachings, or
•cannot do something they want to do.
English

@Merici502525 I'm not assuming anything. I just know what my experiences have been with Catholics and what I've seen. My Grandmother was Catholic. My Mother wasn't. And I was never raised Catholic. There must be a reason why.
English

I don't understand why someone would suggest Catholics need to go to protestants to find out what we believe.

@Merici502525 @SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie If you truly don't understand what @ChiefOptipops is saying. I recommend going to NeedGod .net on youtube. Watch any vid or live stream where the host talks to Catholics. All will become abundantly clear. Catholics put church laws of man&Popes above faith or following God's Word
English

@Gratefulga73935 Welcome to Christianity! I'm not new to the faith. Catholicism isn't another denomination. It was founded by Jesus and canonized the Bible. That's why they're talking to you about it. They have to speak out against it to justify their position.
English

@Merici502525 I'm still very early in my walk. I need to know the Bible a bit better. Before I can start learning about other denominations.
English

@Gratefulga73935 It still cracks me up ! Thanks for making me laugh I needed that this week.
Obviously if I wanted to learn about the Catholic faith, I wouldn't go to a protestant Catholic basher. Especially not one who has mislead the people in the thread about Catholic teachings.
English

@Merici502525 I think people go to church, for just that sorta thing. Especially Children. People that don't know God, but believe in a higher power.

English

@Gratefulga73935 If you would like info about Catholic teachings, I can help find resources or answer your questions if it's a topic I know enough about.
English

@Gratefulga73935 People might do that to decide what they believe.
It seems pretty audacious to assume someone doesn't know what they believe, and they need to a podcast bashing their faith to "find out" what they believe.
Why are you assuming anything about anyone else's beliefs?
English

@Gratefulga73935 I still get a kick out of this! I should listen to a protestant podcast to find out what I believe as a Catholic.
How awesome people think I need to listen to someone else to find out what I believe. Absolutely hilarious!
English

@Merici502525 It's to find out what you believe. It's to find out what Catholics believe. The host talks and has meaningful discussions with them. What is learned watching/listening to these talks is invaluable insight. I can't really put into words. Just check it out you won't be sorry

@NpcCorrectness @JaydenDavisNC How was it determined what was in the Bible?
English

@JaydenDavisNC No. God gave us his words through Jews. The Jews and early Christians preserved the scripture. It did not depend on the endorsement of the papists to make it official. Stop taking credit
English

@MiffedScientist @LadyNimby @Megamom1985 @NoblestCalling It might be a lot like that, the baby is already conceived. I'm not sure what if anything specific to this situation is out in a stay from the Church.
English

@LadyNimby @Megamom1985 @NoblestCalling That seems kind of like leaving your ox in the hole just because it is the Sabbath.
English

@Gratefulga73935 @SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie If you're interested in learning what Catholics actually believe I can share resources that could help.
English

@Gratefulga73935 @SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie I'm Catholic. She's explaining what dogma is, but that is not what dogma is.
She even followed up saying she never said that, when I substituted the meaning when restated her claim asking if that's is what she meant.
Please stop believing what people tell you about Catholics.
English

i told my mom i was attending Catholic mass recently and she got kinda upset and basically asked me if i still believe in Jesus, amongst other things
i think many are not necessarily “unhappy” but moreso brainwashed into believing Catholicism is a cult and not also Christianity
Chrissie Mayr🇺🇸@ChrissieMayr
Lost about 300 followers since announcing my conversion to Catholicism. Doubtful it’s coincidental, but it is quite fascinating. I have a feeling those 300 people are unhappy with their life.
English

@Gratefulga73935 Catholics to find out what Catholics believe should go to protestants, who have already misrepresented the faith, to find out what they believe?
English

@SuperNerdMike @SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie It seems people just be making up definitions to hate on catholics.
If it was a legitimate concern, it would have been explained out of the gate. We could just have a discussion. Instead no one knows what y'all are talking about.
English

@SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @Merici502525 @darlingstrawbie there's also
>Dogma, in its broadest sense, is any belief held definitively and without the possibility of reform. [...]
[...] In the pejorative sense, dogma refers to enforced decisions, such as those of aggressive political interests or authorities.
English

@SuperNerdMike @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie I'll set aside the error of this statement and ask if this is what Optipops was saying?
English

@Merici502525 @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie Dogmatic belief in this case would be a situation wherein say, the official position of the Roman Catholic church is that the only forgiveness that can be sought is through the rite of confession and the intercession of a priest.
There is no alternative according to the Church.
English

@SanFranEugene @ChiefOptipops @darlingstrawbie I think she has a different definition of dogma. When I wrote out the definition she said she didn't say that. So I'm not sure what she's talking about.
English

@ChiefOptipops @Merici502525 @darlingstrawbie Are you being obtuse on purpose? It's impossible to communicate with people like you who attack our religion with vague aspersions. You haven't even given an example up to this point despite polite asking. It reeks of cowardice and bitterness.
