This is so random but, if I had a PhD and could manage to get hired, I’d want to teach a course on biblical poetry. I’m obsessed with it. Getting to go there a bit with my present project but, man, what a blast it’d be to give way completely to the subject for a whole semester.

@RealGDT So the suffering has a purpose. The salvation has a purpose. And it’s always about affecting a larger community, not just the individual who suffers/survives.

@RealGDT David is told he’ll be king, but first becomes a servant in the king’s house. Joseph will lead a nation but suffers in prison. But this suffering is preparation for leadership. And suffering & success have purpose. Both are necessary to save/impact others.

1) A little thread. There is an essential principle in Catholic dogma (thus you may choose to refute it or embrace it) that serves as a narrative backbone: Grace and salvation emerge from pain and suffering. It is in this passage that you find salvation.
