I see a lot of people hating on this. 🚨 The reality is games are hard to make and cost a lot of money. So you either get F2P microtransaction games or Paid Access high quality games. Everyday people complain about the "slop" on Roblox, but when push comes to shove those words mean nothing if you're not willing to support the solution to that problem. $30 is a lot of money, and not everyone has that, but this is the solution to the problem so many complain about. For many people it's time to put your money where your mouth is.

@DoctorHarkness @zack_overflow I'd consider Roblox closer to flash games/youtube in that it provides tools to devs to make multiplayer games easily in a way that people just need to hit play on a game and jump right in.
Check out @PoptartNoahh 's work or Frontlines for two really good games.

Roblox has ported the entire frontend JS stack to Lua:
react, jest, graphql, apollo, redux, etc...

you can now write React in Lua...? Roblox has successfully ported all of React 17.x to Lua It's 80k lines of JS translated to Lua It appears most of this is driven by their JS -> Lua compiler This is totally cursed, but I guess an impressive feat of engineering

@ThePrimeagen @ParkerRex @zack_overflow A lot of it is largely being posted outside Roblox for the first time, but we've had UI frameworks here for years now. Check out Roact(& Rodux) and Fusion.

@TylerWasniowski @ParkerRex @zack_overflow @ThePrimeagen GUI has been a fully flexible thing requiring various frameworks for some time now. On Roblox we often use Roact or Fusion as two libraries.
In general Roblox offers enough to make full fledged games(look at frontlines or @PoptartNoahh 's work). Maps sounds ehhhh...

@ParkerRex @zack_overflow @ThePrimeagen Roblox maps use LUA, many of the maps have custom GUIs. Maybe these GUIs are getting advanced and could use some help from UI frameworks.

@plasma_node Now that said most people use Knit very incorrectly. I think most should still try to make their own setups when they have the time to do so.
Also the networking thing- sleitnick's RbxUtil library has plenty of the stuff Knit uses separated for use however you want.
