Too often, wireless chargers fall short of being a viable and user-friendly alternative to plug-in chargers so there is no clear benefit in switching. How are #metamaterials changing this? | ow.ly/bumq30pON4M #Wireless

Let's take a step back and look at a more general definition of what #metamaterials are. Why are they important, what is negative refraction and what is the purpose of light in all this? Check it out: ow.ly/6JT430pOhMq

@KrisSchnee 😁That's usually the way of it, though! Major innovations discovered almost by accident, even though everyone knows they're working on something potentially ground-breaking. Exciting times

@MetaboardsLtd I just read a little magazine put out by a magnetics lab in Florida, which has been doing work on graphene. Re: materials science, one of the researchers said something like, "we expect something really important in 5-10 years, but we don't know what!"

Invisibility cloaks are staple features of many science fiction blockbusters and have been in development for years. This latest version is rather promising: #Metamaterials #Technology #Invisibility

mirror.co.uk/science/futuri… Unlike past "invisibility" #metamaterials this stuff seems to work in 3D with a wide spectrum, and they've made big sheets of it. I'm wondering about concentrating light onto small solar panels. Ah, they're thinking about it: invisibility.ca/story.html

@KrisSchnee We believe it's coming - all these incremental steps will lead to an eventual breakthrough. It'll be exciting to see the results in a good decade or so

@MetaboardsLtd I want to see more details though. The video is promising but the Web site rambles about a series of tests and patents without actually offering a product for sale that we can play with.
