@TheDrawVoid It does, this mod already feels like a complete overhaul to dbfz in a sonic fashion, it could straight up be an official collab with how quality it's looking.

@LakeFeperd I think if the feedback is helping you that's what matters so you should do what you feel is best! I personally like to wait till a game is released to play so i can get the full experience but ik thats built off the early access playthroughs. Take your time ik it'll be great!

Announcement #XFextremeFormula
tl;dr: I want to release the story mode as chapters for the early access version, starting with chapter 0 and 1 coming (probably) around December, but for every major update your save file will be deleted.
So, regarding #XFextremeFormula ‘s early access, I originally wanted to finish the entire story mode and make its completion the final release but it’s starting to dawn on me that what I’m making is way more complicated to make then I originally envisioned.
Here’s the thing, the main reason XF was released on early access was that this was my first time making this sort of game, and I lack experience in the racing genre. Since then, the feedback I gathered from early access has helped immensely and I believe the game has greatly improved as a result.
But what has dawned on me recently is that the same is happening with the story mode. Even though the on-foot segments are very familiar to me, the story and writing related aspects are not and I’ve been struggling to make everything work for a while now.
Since the last update back in december I’ve been hard at work on the story and I started with the easy stuff, from then I had to make an entire character controller from scratch, complete with a full moveset and combat system+animations, design 8 new on-foot stages complete with new assets, enemies and bosses, many small race tracks that all share the same theme (and I’ve no idea how to integrate them into the arcade mode with any sort of grace, you’ll see why if you play them), lots of dialog, NPC characters, many, many menus, entire modes(like the night races) and two shops. Not to mention a few cinematic cutscenes and story events. The whole backbone of the story mode is very close to being completed and I am starting the process of actually putting it all together.
Hearing what you guys think, will be extremely helpful in steering this mess of a game into something better. Even if the final product doesn’t turn out that great, I still want to make something that is at least above average and move on to my next project, which I’m really excited to work on.
To be fair with you guys, this month, August, is the month I planned to release XF but I’m nowhere near the finish line and there’s a part of me that feels like I need some motivation to keep going. This is partly why I am posting this and why I’m thinking about releasing the story mode in early access as well.
To note, I’d say chapter 0 is about 50% done but I pull that number straight outta my ass cause I have no idea how long it will take me to complete it, I estimate a month or two but I don’t wanna trow out deadlines I might miss.

Game’s too complicated to make in the first place let alone keep track of everything that will go wrong when a new update comes out and your old save files breaks the game. Plus the plan is to change a lot of what was already done so it’s probably best people start from scratch anyways.

Yes, at least 6 + reverse versions of those same tracks. Which I plan on making available as part of the arcade mode. Keep in mind those tracks were designed for the “Night Races” and all share the same theme.

Yes again. More mainline arcade tracks and a new cup are in the plans.

Its been a while since I last posted an update on #XFEF's story mode but here's Vespa's new model (WIP) by @balmsold. Currently I'm still working on the character controller for the story mode as there is a lot to go over before I start to make the story proper
