We compared new vs returning customer AOV across 6,000+ WooCommerce stores:
🐶 Animal & Pet Supplies: +42% more per order
💄 Cosmetics & Skincare: +22%
💊 Vitamins & Supplements: +24%
🍷 Alcohol: +21%
But it's not universal:
📚 Online Learning: -29%
🏋️ Fitness: -12%
💻 Consumer Electronics & Appliances: -15%
The takeaway? Loyalty doesn't automatically mean bigger baskets. It depends on your industry, your product, and the wider market.
