Today is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Despite remarkable advances in HIV research, women remain disproportionately affected by HIV, especially women of color and young women. ♀️ HIV is preventable and treatable, but more work is still needed to dismantle the stigma that prevents women from taking PrEP and accessing essential care. Thank you to @QPLNYC for diligently collaborating with our team to provide the best environment for #Queens locals to access MOIA’s resources. It was a pleasure to workalongside @NYCCHR, @MetroPlusHealth,& @kcsnewyork to provide a resource-rich event.

We had an amazing time at our Black History Month Celebration recognizing the rich legacy, culture, and contributions of Black Americans! Yesterday’s event featured an inspiring showcase of artwork by Wayne Gregory, our Senior Facilities Manager and accomplished visual artist. He shared insights about his pieces and artistic journey and together we honored a century of Black History Month. 🖤❤️💚💛

Shoveling snow puts a huge strain on the body, and is especially dangerous for the elderly or those with heart conditions. If you must shovel, be aware of warning signs such as chest pain, shortness of breath, arm pain, dizziness, or extreme fatigue. These symptoms may indicate your body is overstressed and not capable of doing the job. Seek shelter immediately to get warm and rest. If symptoms persist, call 911 immediately. on.nyc.gov/2RmwchP

The New York City Department of Social Services will deploy 22 warming busses citywide. Additional warming spaces are available at 11 NYC Health + Hospital facilities and 13 school locations. New Yorkers should contact 311 or visit a LinkNYC kiosk for the nearest site. Department of Homeless Services (DHS) continues to operate under enhanced Code Blue protocols. During Code Blue, shelters operate under an open-door policy. Outreach teams are connecting unsheltered New Yorkers to safe, warm space. During a Code Blue, 311 is routed to 911 so first responders can mobilize quickly to reach the person in need. New Yorkers should call 311 if they see anyone in need of assistance.
