I’ve finally finished creating my Super World in Mario Maker 2 and have unofficially named it Super Mario Bros 5. I’ve been working towards this moment since 2015, trying to create a classic Mario game that plays as if Nintendo created it themselves.

Playing Minishoot Adventures, or any twin stick shooter for that matter, requires lots of stress on the analog sticks. I felt like the ones on the Switch 2 Pro controller could wear out quicker so I swapped to the 8BitDo Pro 2 cause they seem more durable.

New arrivals from My Nintendo. The Mario Galaxy & 40th Anniversary pins are huge (they have 2 pin backs), while the platinum and gold coin pins are pretty basic but are low-key 🔥! Of course I had to grab the Metroid desktop metal display.

100% completion on Minishoot Adventures, hard difficulty. Absolutely loved every second. Took me about 13 hours to finish, had spent 2 hours backtracking trying to find the 3rd dungeon. Highly recommend.

Minishoot Adventures gets compared to Zelda a lot but there’s a few things similar to Fantasy Zone as well. Enemy design, bullet physics and the way enemies turn red when taking damage. Developer SoulGame Studio must be fans.

Into the Darkness (FFIV) is such a cozy dungeon track. Sweeping strings create moods of tension and intrigue. A background harp sets a fantastical tone while a bass tethers it back to earth. Wherever you were, you knew adventure awaits.

Final Fantasy Friday: It’s remarkable how often Bone Dungeon (FFMQ) intrusively plays in my head. A snare and timpani keep beat alongside volleying brass and pan flute. Brass and synth then rock the melody as the pan flute bridges the loop. Excellent first true dungeon track.
