Pirates have neither improved nor regressed compared to last season, while Sundowns are only marginally off pace, with a two‑point deficit (three by my own tally, though I may stand corrected). If Sundowns take maximum points from their game in hand, the title race is effectively closed for Pirates.

Wadu has done well in his first season and that should not be taken away from him. But we must also be honest about the context, part of the reason we remain mathematically in the race is not solely down to our own consistency. Sundowns unusually slow start gave us breathing room, a luxury Jose never had. When he was in charge, the league was effectively gone by December, despite the team playing well.
