I was planning on holding this Ben Rice Superfractor, but might have to entertain offers if his Topps Chrome hit $25,000. Wow.

Sports Card Investor@SportsCardInv
🚨RECORD SALE for BEN RICE 🚨 This 2025 Topps Chrome Ben Rice Rookie Auto Superfractor 1/1 just sold for $24.5K on eBay 🔥 The previous highest sale of Ben Rice was his 2025 Topps Chrome Sapphire 1/1 auto that sold for $5,000 in October 2025 😳

@Yankeecarguy @YankeeLibrarian sounds a lot like what they did with Caleb Durbin out of nowhere

The back of J.C. Escarra's baseball card isn't great, but there's more there than meets the eye.
He can really clobber baseballs.
Aaron Boone says Escarra has untapped potential, and other teams see it too.

@AllStarWells nice to see there is at least one other person on this app who is high on him going into the season
English

@DeportJuanSoto @GreenfieldMax18 @ilovemypastime A catchers first few years are more often than not more defensive focused learning all pitchers and calling games. Look at Raleigh’s numbers his first 2 seasons. Not saying Wells is going to turn into Raleigh, but it’s way too soon to write him off.
English

@GreenfieldMax18 @ilovemypastime his bat was supposed to be his upside lmfao ever since he’s got hit in the hand he looks like a left handed volpe. Expands the zone , can’t lay off anything down and in and can’t catch up to anything up in the zone. He’s trying to pull stuff in the opposite side of the box.
English

They already have a better 1B so no.
Madyson@Majorleaguemadd
Vinnie Pasquantino would fit in so well with the Yankees
English

@BronxBomberBall its hard to call it a failure when he hit leadoff in 2 games and homered in one of them. they did move off of it, but it wasnt because he struggled doing it.
English

So we're really going to try the Austin Wells leadoff experiment again huh. Generally lineup constructions in spring, and certainly this early in spring, don't mean much, but plenty of guys who could be leading off today in the lineup and they intentionally went with Wells

@bigjoshallenfan @rationalyankee I feel like most of the people who hate on him are gamblers who couldn't stop betting his props and only focus on his hitting. Anyone who REALLY understands baseball should see that getting his production (in a down year) with his defense is incredibly valuable.
English

@rationalyankee you can tell how much of a casual someone is by their opinion of austin wells
English

Austin Wells was a top 10 catcher in MLB last season. He finished 9th in fWAR of all qualified catchers.
People keep lumping him into the category of guys who disappointed them and it’s kinda nuts to me. The offense fell off a bit but his defense was extremely valuable all season long.
That said, if the Yankees are going defense first at catcher, SS and 3B, the rest of the lineup needs to mash. That’s why I think the Yankees need to be in on Kyle Tucker.
Sebastián Ayala@AyalaGil13
@rationalyankee Fans are totally distracted in Bellinger or Tucker but they forget that we have 10 years without SS, 3B and C… even with both we don’t go anywhere with Volpe, Wells and McMahon and there is not a concern about that…
English

@NYYST_Podcast @NYYUNDERGROUND I say keep him - In his first year as every day starter he produced a top 10 fWAR season yet gets so much hate. give him the offseason to focus on his hitting approach and I think we will all be rewarded. Besides, Rice needs to stay at 1st to not get beat up behind the dish.

@ChrisCoop_ Its funny when you look at last year's spring training and the approach Wells had when they were considering leading him off. He clearly has the ability to be patient, i just think when he was at the bottom of the order he was trying to do too much early in counts/1st pitches
English

Really not sure how I feel about another year of McMahon-Wells-Volpe at the bottom of the lineup. I don’t see this as a 7-8-9 that sets you up for success in the playoffs. I see Wells getting back to his ways of having good at bats, taking walks, and building on the good August-September, potentially slotting in at 6th.
But every mock lineup I see with this 7-8-9 part of me cringes inside. 3 guys that have a good chance of uncompetitive at bats vs Game 1 pitching. No RISP production and scarce ability to turn over the lineup.
Wells the exception to what I’m about to say, but I really hope the Yankees try to find upgrades for this part of the lineup. I don’t really want another lineup of 6 guys that won’t give me good at bats vs Game 1 power pitching.
Especially since the Yankees have 2 one true outcome guys at the top half of their lineup already in Stanton/Jazz
English

@BenRiceMuse anyone calling for Rice to be the primary catcher must not watch the games when the yankees are in the field. he is not a good catcher and it is a position that has to prioritize defense. i love the kid and hes a very good hitter, but he can't be the every day catcher
English

@Th3JimmyP So he was tied for 5th amongst catchers in homers, 7th in RBI in many fewer plate appearances than those ahead of him. Yes, it was a disappointing year in terms of average and OBP - but it was his first full year as a starter. his defense earns him next year as the catcher.
English

@MiStro85 you act like defense and framing isn’t taught… Austin Wells stinks regardless of how well he makes a pitch look to retard umpires. The Yankees need consistent hitters.
English

@JLas43_ You spelled Wells wrong at catcher. Rice will be our 1B. I'm also really starting to doubt Volpe is the SS on opening day.
English

@Th3JimmyP Ben Rice is not a good defensive catcher. I love his bat, but he is not better than Wells behind the dish.
English

@MiStro85 .700 OPS hitter, sub .300 OBP, Ben Rice exists… do you need more?
