@niieani @MiTypeScript Seems unlikely though. If encoding images of text is more efficient than text tokenization, you'd think frontier labs would have been doing that for a long time.

@MiTypeScript Which paper? Either the quality of the context from the ocr is lower, or the context is the same quality and therefore images are mispriced, no?

@phillpafford lol, for now. depends if it's cheaper because it's more efficient or cheaper because gaming the pricing model. if the latter.. probably a ToS endgame in sight.

a few of us at MiTS were talking about this in the context of another company's recent entertaining video with apparently not so accurate database benchmarks and it came up that Deno's had similar levels of fun but apparently without the data integrity issue
