This is the most shameful video made by a public agency I have ever seen in my life. Not even close. But we should expect an impartial investigation from the Feds, right?

This tragedy is not isolated. We cannot and will not continue to allow ICE to terrorize our communities. Now more than ever, we must come together and fight these blatant acts of state violence. This cannot and will not be our normal.

We approved a plaque to honor the officers who responded on January 6th. Speaker Johnson refuses to display it, so I have a replica outside of my office for people to visit. The Capitol Police kept us safe that day, as they do every day. They deserve to be recognized.

Five years ago today, Donald Trump urged his supporters to attack Congress and the Capitol over a proven lie. More than 140 police officers were injured. Trump then pardoned the attackers. He betrayed his oath and his country, and we won't ever forget it.

Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick defended Congress from a violent mob on January 6, 2021. After being attacked by rioters, Officer Sicknick passed away the following night.   Today, my thoughts are with Officer Sicknick’s loved ones and all of the brave first responders who defended our Capitol.

America, we can never move on from the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol until there is real accountability. This was the most direct attack on our democracy in my lifetime, yet every perpetrator has been pardoned. It’s up to us to keep standing up for what’s right.
