Honestly the biggest obstacle to adapting Children and God Emperor of Dune is trying to find someone who’s got the juice to play Leto II.

Yes. He's 100% correct on this. This will be a success if the following happens: (1) the animation and illustrations aren't goofy. Keep it serious and interesting. And, more importantly, (2) keep contemporary politics, ideology, etc., out of this. Regardless of its divisiveness, Firefly's universe has its own unique politics and problems that are far more interesting to explore.

Nathan Fillion explains why the animated series is set between the TV show and Serenity. "You can’t bring back Firefly without bringing back all of Firefly. We toyed with the idea of spending some time in the show after the events of Serenity, and I honestly have no interest. I think Serenity was our wonderful farewell to what was an incredible opportunity. Had we only had one more chance to do something, that was it, and it was beautiful. I can’t compete with that. But what I can do is go back in time, bring the gang back together, and give people what they want, which is more Firefly. After Serenity, it’s not the same. I didn’t want to do this without my buddy Alan. And you know that’s a reason why animation is key, because Ron Glass is no longer with us. I like to think, in my heart of hearts, that this is something that he would have wanted." Is this the right thinking?

I’m really glad we now have two Dune films’ worth of trailers to use as a baseline for what to expect when theorizing. This isn't a Marvel movie in that with Villeneuve, there’s a clear pattern that what you see is pretty much what you get.👍

Combining Dune Messiah and Children Of Dune into one movie is actually a great idea, it would just feel wonky as hell after splitting the first film up into two Like the books had such horrible pacing and this either fixes it or makes it WAY WORSE

Got to see the Dune: Part Three trailer in IMAX this afternoon. Didn’t think Denis Villeneuve could make something more epic. I was wrong. Drops at 1pm EST Tuesday. For now, check out these character posters.

@AlysssaHazel Ron Glass is dead so Book would be a difficult character to include. The others are definitely in it, just didn't make this concept scene for some reason. Probably b/c it's very early and they don't have a place to play it or the money to produce so....

Just saw the Firefly Announcement on IG Pros: Animation could allow for the series to time jump back to stuff pre-serenity. Wash could return, etc. Cons: No Whedon. Animation costs a lot and can be time consuming so the Announcement seems more like a pitch. Disney still owns it, so I doubt they'll keep their grubby hands to themselves in terms of the actual content. Odd note: Kaylee, Bishop, and Simon are absent from the concept art. Also, I'm no animation expert but does this concept art strike anyone else as...weird? It looks less like an animated version of the show and more art for the Firefly RPG or a visual novel.

Okay seriously. The folks disappointed with a Firefly revival because it's animated. Do you not realize how incredible a medium animation is for sci-fi? Have you not seen Titan AE? Or Treasure Planet? Americans have such absurd biases against animation when many, MANY properties would be better served being animated. 🙄 (I mean the revival will probably be bad, but animation won't be the reason...)

@elvenmaidinn A lot rides on the animation style. I don't want to see a Lower Decks thing here. I don't want cartoony anime BS. Make it as realistic as possible, like Fire and Ice

I am okay. I am dealing with a deep betrayal situation that has really knocked the wind out of me, a big change at work that will require a lot of research that was given on a very short notice, empty nest grief, finishing up a huge renovation project, taking on teaching a night sign language class for the local community (as a favor) and depression (lies in my head). I will not be on social media much for a few weeks, and I'll share some stories from my book for feedback and some positive content as I'm sure we all need it on here...as for the book, it's almost done. I know I have friends on here who care. I will be making more conscious effort to go outside, take my vitamins and minerals, drink and eat healthy, pray often, and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Love you all. - Judi Ann-
