I've always felt this way about Bambi, especially compared to the original book by Felix Salten which has a very strong story the film tosses out almost entirely. Bambi looks incredible but there's no story; it's the Avatar of its day, except even Avatar has more plot.

I would watch clips of this for the animation but I would rather watch South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut than the whole thing. I understand the argument for cartoonists driving the story, but story is still king and good animation alone will not hold my attention.

@ToyStory_Shots While this admittedly IS Toy Story 3’s fault, all Toy Story 4 hate is still good hate lmao. That movie took the message of TS3 and shoved it into the very trash incinerator that it ended with.

What you say may have been true for some or even many, but plenty of people back then also DID respect/uphold it. Respect didn’t just appear in the 21st century

@ogorangebird I think this needed to be done 10-20 years ago if they were actually going to do it. It might have done well had it released sometime near when the Transformers films did, but at this point they were making a movie about a now 44 year old Saturday morning cartoon.
