John Hynes confirmed this is what kept Mats Zuccarello out of Game 2. Tyler Myers got 2 minutes for elbowing. No fine or suspension.

Eye test looked better for avs but the stats do not show the same. The top 3 stats mean nothing playing this Dallas team.

The Avalanche are obviously a strong team but they feed off your fear. If you push back and make them defend in their own end, they get uncomfortable fast. And their goalie does too. Very flat track bully stuff and the playoffs isn’t that way. Punch back and they seem mortal.

@OwenNewkirk Protect the goalies. Good call, set a precedent you cant come flying in recklessly and expect to be able to turn on a dime to avoid contact. If your driving the paint, your at fault for any collision that happens as you break that plane, regardless of a bump.
