Expired auctions and a shorter 29-day grace period are launching Monday at @unstoppableweb - read on for details and our full expiration timeline: Note that I sent out a similar post earlier this week that contained outdated details regarding our policy. This post contains the new official policy. We are shortening our grace period from 40 to 29 days to allow for expired auctions at Unstoppable. Don't worry, your domains are not in danger - you have until 12:01am ET on Monday 3/23 to renew any affected domains before we start sending domains to auction. Starting Monday 3/23, domains that enter day 30 of the grace period will be sent to auction. Domains already on day 31+ of grace on 3/23 will not be sent to our auctions. Domains that are sent to expired or closeout auction will not be renewable if they have any bids, to preserve the integrity of auctions and prevent gaming. Domains that don't sell at auction will be released to the registry and will be redeemable for a higher fee during the 30-day redemption period following closeout auctions. Soon we'll also be launching an auctions discovery and bidding interface at Unstoppable. You'll be able to bid on our expired auctions inventory, as well as inventory from partner registrars like Dynadot. Altogether, our expired domain timeline looks like this: Day -30: We send an expiration reminder email Day -7: We attempt to autorenew your domain (if auto-renew is on) and send another reminder email (if autorenew is off) Day 1: Domain is now expired and in the 29-day grace period. We send a third reminder email. Domain is renewable and transferrable at normal price during the grace period. DNS records and forwarding config are wiped, and Unstoppable's nameservers and lander are applied. Day 30: Domain leaves the grace period and is sent to 7-day expired auction. Domain cannot be renewed or transferred if there is any bid in the auction. Day 37: Standard auction closes and domain is transferred to the winner. If the domain has no bids, it will go to 3-day closeout auction. Day 40: Closeout auction ends and domain is transferred to the winner. If the domain has no bids, it's deleted, enters the redemption period, and is renewable for a redemption fee. Day 70: Domain leaves the redemption period, enters pendingDelete status, and is not recoverable until it is released for registration by the registry. ----------- We appreciate your flexibility as we iron out our policies with so many new features coming down the pipe. Let me know if you have feedback or concerns

Expired and user-generated auctions are coming to @unstoppableweb soon Here's what this means for you: Our grace period will be reduced from 40 days to 30 days. This applies even to existing domains you have with us. Plan your renewals accordingly. We will announce the concrete switchover date soon and send out plenty of reminders to keep you informed Days 30-37 after expiration, domains will be sent to @Dynado's DAX network for syndication and bidding across several registrars Days 37-40, any remaining domains will be sent to Dutch closeout auctions. Before being sent to expired auction, you'll also be able to create arbitrary auctions for your domains and post them to the DAX network. This is to give your domains the most eyeballs and the best chances of selling We'll also pull inventory from DAX registrars into our marketplace and build an active community of auction bidders. Domainers deserve a data-rich, social experience when scouring expireds and we intend to give it to them We're excited to build out these critical pieces of our registrar and create a more lively marketplace. Stay tuned for more updates.

Is it just my app or account that never remembers my “For you” timeline customizations? Or do you have the same issue from day to day?

My first marathon in the mountains. Salida Run Through Time. Had a friend ask if I'd like to join him for the run, and I'm a glutton for punishment. I'm new to these, so I had no idea what to expect. I've been running on an elevated treadmill and 50+ miles a week, but also coming from IL to 7K feet. Loved every minute. Ran hard at times, walked the climbs on others. I only wish I had started these races before I crossed mid 50s.

I don’t doubt the numbers on an order of magnitude basis. But what are the numbers for .com and how do they compare? . ai offers ~80–100x better odds (on a per-registered-domain basis) for hitting a $100k+ sale compared to .com in recent periods. Here’s why 👇

1,000,000 .AI domains registered. ~200 will sell for serious money this year. That's not a market. That's a lottery. Here's how to play it smarter. credit to @DomainSherpa appraise.net/blog/the-ai-do…

@AGreatDomain Thanks, Bob. Many factors come into play. Obviously, hand registering .ai (even with its high renewal costs) was possible relatively recently whereas not in .com for 25 years. More to unpack and many other subtle discussion points. But there we are.

Understand that it’s not an “apples to apples” comparison, but our job is investors is to think about one investment versus another in objective terms. Do you have a better opportunity of buying a top 1% ultra premium domain name in .com or .ai today?

.ai odds are 80 to 100 times better per registered domain than .com, even with conservative estimates. Most .ai & .com domains won’t sell. They’re equal in this fact. .ai offers more asymmetric upside if you got in early — like in the mid-2010s. .com has more liquidity & broader appeal.

@MichaelCyger That person is a scumbag, website owned by rdce80 , his buying reputation isn't the best and for that you just need to see how many of his projects went down under. He was recently selling his entire portfolio for peanuts but with wild claims. I called him out and he blocked me.

I forgot that there is an option to get quick cash for your domain names besides Domain Capital. Sale or short-term loan. If you contact Digi Scrapyard, let me know how it goes. They haven’t posted on X in a few months so unsure of their status.

@MichaelCyger I have tried to explore their loan system but Ryan is away currently and will be back in April/May. On purchasing names, I believe he posted some late last year if I recall (I never tried) 🙂

@dnnews_ Never have. That’s why I wanted to hear if anyone else reaches out to them. I get a decent amount of emails from people looking to liquidate names that I pass on. Would be nice to have someplace to send them.
