@tjmcaulay Official said that it was a fumble and he didnt have possession before stepping out of bounds, they didnt have a camera angle to see "definitively" that he fumbled before he crossed the line. the 3rd camera angle clearly shows it was loose. do refs see all of those during replay?

Here are the applicable definitions of player possession and fumble which apply here. A strict reading makes this play a fumble, due to the loss of control, and requiring the player to regain possession by reestablishing control, getting a foot down inbounds, and having the ball long enough to perform an act common to the game. He doesn’t do that and the ball goes out of bounds in the end zone making this a touchback. But there is more. In 2018, the NFL changed this rule that if a player immediately regains control it is not a fumble and the player is not considered to have lost possession. College didn’t change the rule, but it was my understanding then (2018), that they applied this concept via “interpretation”. Given recent “interpretation” events (leaping thread). I’m not willing to say definitively whether this is or is not a fumble/touchback. Welcome to the world of college football rules and their interpretations.

@theselzman @__Puritanju @mvannieuwkuyk @LocalLegendCoop The issue is the penalty that was eventually called isnt a reviewable penalty by NY. That is an NFL rule. There are penalties that are not discretionary, like if a player stepped out of bounds, too many people, etc. This was not what NY reviews after a TD. But they did this time

@__Puritanju @mvannieuwkuyk @LocalLegendCoop But it also wasn’t a legal play. So you want an illegal play to stand while your fan base complains about refs being favorable to the Chiefs. Which is it? You’re in favor of letting illegal things stand or only when they benefit your team?

Why are people mad that the league made sure the call was correct? If the Chiefs got a touchdown taken off the board due to a procedural penalty, nobody would care and they would call Chiefs fans sore losers. Oh wait, that did happen when Toney lined up offsides and took away a TD.

Dan Campbell confirms the league stepped in to review the opening drive TD The officials previously said New York didn’t get involved Caught in a lie. Caught playing favorites. #OnePride

@WhoDeyBucks @FFbuckCLE Yes. It would have. The thing that made him ineligible is lying to NCAA, which they said in report. However he didnt play a single down in 2023 at Michigan making that moot. He played in every single game last year for OSU. Playing ineligible players is the issue. (See: 2010 OSU)

@FFbuckCLE The question I have is, if he stole stuff off the computer and recorded the phone call he would have been a Michigan player during the time correct? So if doing that makes him ineligible wouldn’t he been ineligible there as well?

Honest question, in the NCAA report they put that they knew the former player had lied, also they know who he is. If thats the case why hasnt the NCAA done anything to that former player when they found out he lied?

@blueman67234998 @Michellek4040 Assuming he is the "former player" He lied to NCAA investigators. They stated that in the report. Per bylaws 10.1 and 10.4 lying to investigators makes you ineligible until you file for reinstatement.

So the player is Joey Velazquez. He transferred from Michigan to Ohio State and played on the OSU team that won the national championship. If he’s found ineligible, it could mean Ohio State’s national championship would be vacated.

@red40reds @Michellek4040 Assuming it was Velazquez, he lied to NCAA investigators, which they disclosed in the report. That makes him ineligible until he files for reinstatement per bylaws 10.1 and 10.4 regarding eligibility.

@Michellek4040 How would he be ineligible for OSU when said allegations happened when he was a member of the UM team and happened 6 months prior to when he transferred. Also, unless he’s deemed to have received impermissible benefits directly from OSU and not a booster etc eligibility is fine.

@JJeffrey100 @Michellek4040 *Checks player participation records* he didnt play a single snap in 23, he lost his special teams role to a freshman, which explains his behavior and transfer. However, he did play in every game last season on special teams, and he played against Texas just this past weekend

@Bad_JuJu86 @cpstalions Wasn't even just that non-call (was actually consistent per rest of the game) it was the literal streetball they let go. It was like the NBA sent a memo to the refs that they were going to WWE and not an NBA playoff game. Then you turn on the next game and touch fouls galore.

@cpstalions If the Pistons weren’t playing I wouldn’t watch… today shows why. What a horrible no call to end the game on an obvious foul (and if it wasn’t then Brunson should never get a call).

The funniest thing is the NBA actually wonders why the NFL & College Football have significantly better viewership ratings. I wouldn’t be shocked if the NHL surpasses the NBA at this rate.

@NOMalreadytaken @SpencerHakimian Candy Crowley "fact-checked" Romney and was wrong. Romney called out Obama for taking 3 weeks to admit Benghazi was terrorism and she instantly backed Obama saying they did it the following day. That was not true but that interjection threw Romney off the rest of the debate.

I don't think debate moderators had started openly 'fact-checking' Republican candidates yet Also about the time when Obama was caught on an open mic telling Russian advisor how flexible he could be in his second term. No, we haven't spiraled out of control. The media is finally being called out for their election interference, lies, and propaganda

This was barely a decade ago. 2 competent, fully coherent, men in their 50s/60s disagreeing at the margins about ways to make our society a little more productive. Nothing but respect for one another. We’ve completely spiraled out of control politically since then.

If I was Dusty May, I would literally only work on rebounding, the next 2 days in practice. The effort in terms of rebounding on both ends of the court, is honestly just pathetic and sad. Zero heart. It’s been the same story all season.

How Hitler seized power: 1. Create a crisis. 2. Demonize opponents. 3. Declare a state of emergency. 4. Undermine elections. 5. Make the rule of law irrelevant. 6. Rule by decree. If America falls it will be because of the people who didn’t pay attention.
