@EkpoNeptune @notchrisvolpe Key Food, CTown, Fine Fare, Associated, Lidl.
These are real grocery stores that actual working class New Yorkers use.
I honestly don’t care if the city builds a handful of these new markets, but let’s not pretend these areas are food deserts.
English

First off, half these dots are delis that nobody in their right mind would do a full grocery haul at bc that’s not what they’re meant for.
Second, why tf do you think walking an hour round trip to get groceries is something that should be seen as normal???
Amanda Macias@amanda_m_macias
Mayor Mamdani's plan to open a city-run grocery store is facing pushback from East Harlem grocers, who say the area is already saturated. About 45 grocery stores are within a 35-minute walk of the proposed site.
English

@PRKF3TR @notchrisvolpe @muhammadelbadri delis dont sell groceries. maybe they have a couple cans of chef boyardee and some dusty ketchup
English

@notchrisvolpe @muhammadelbadri Yes you can. You don’t live in NYC. Deli’s sell way more than smokes and beer. There are tons of specialized deli’s that cater different types of communities. You might not be able to mayer bros but that’s niche product. Basic products , yes
English

@PRKF3TR @notchrisvolpe @muhammadelbadri that just not true. and these grocery stores are way too expensive
English

@notchrisvolpe @muhammadelbadri Between 116 & lenox and lex, there literally 2 “gourmet “ supermakets and like 15 delis. That’s just 116. You can buy same shit at a deli that can you can a supermarket minus the “ gourmet” shit. There is no need for a free supermarket in East Harlem.

Graham Palantir@MaskTheMovie

Is this what we’ve succumbed to @gamestop
Mr. Cohen, I am disappointed by GameStop’s recent post using the phrase “Need weed money?” to promote a trade-in offer. For a company with a strong presence among teenagers, young adults, and families, this kind of messaging is not clever — it is unprofessional and irresponsible.
When a major brand jokes about drug culture in order to sell products, it helps normalize behavior that many parents and community members work hard to discourage. Companies with a large public platform should understand that their words influence culture, especially among younger audiences.
GameStop should hold itself to a higher standard. This post reflects poor judgment and sends the wrong message about what is acceptable in corporate advertising. I hope your company reconsiders this kind of marketing and chooses professionalism over shock value.

@I_listen_to_npr not really they are pointing out how deranged he is by doing something so mundane as a stream collab right after he killed and dismembered a girl
English

seems to be an unnessacary detail here.
Jas@gnarlystyla
Knowing that D4vd killed Celeste and mutilated her body in his car, then went on to stream with pokimane and Katseye makes me sick to my stomach
English

@jreentertain why did you pay to advertise this post, retãrd

GameStop owes the public, especially young customers and their families, better judgment than this.

@OsseChi I think Council Member Chi Ossé needs to focus on the people of district 36 and not his activist career. His bill that forces owners of buildings to pay for brokers fees has increased the rent in all five boroughs because of him. @CMChiOsse @OsseChi
English

STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF COUNCIL MEMBER CHI OSSÉ:
The Council Member is currently being held and processed at the 79th Precinct (263 Tompkins Ave) in Bed-Stuy. We encourage you to show up to the precinct to call for his release and support the Black homeowners whose homes are being stolen through deed theft.
