Using your patch and exe, it is already possible. 1, 2, and 3 works but it requires sourcenext files from RE2 and RE3 moved over to the Steam version, which only RE3 just needs a couple of the sourcenext ROFS files for that game to work too. Also taking your exe you provide on your website and renaming it to the Launcher number for 2 and 3 replaces the DRM Launcher. After renaming the exe to the launcher number, the launcher file is no longer needed and can be renamed or deleted which I delete in that case. After doing these things, the games can be ran in Steam but without DRM and it still counts game time as if we were using the basic launchers. Only RE1 doesn’t have to be changed to a launcher name it still counts as biohazard.exe when opened on Steam and is your exe so its non DRM also.. Dino Crisis 1 and 2 is also the same as RE2 and RE3 renaming the exes to the launcher number. Dino Crisis 2 needs the sourcenext data and some other game files though too or it won’t work. Only reason why I’m telling you this is in case it helps your process a little bit and if you wasn’t sure if the process was able to be done or not. Anyways always excited to see what you do! Since many are not exactly happy with Capcom's weird decision to include Enigma in the Steam release of RE1-2-3, I might include some means to replace their bloated DRM'd launcher and make it work on Steamdeck out of the box.

These games are supposed to be remakes but all they did was reimagine the shit out of them while ignoring the BASE MATERIAL for a lot of things that they literally had access to so they could make a faithful remake. Please tell me you’ve played the Resident Evil 1 remake it LITERALLY took what the base game had and made it better while adding locations, enemies, and LITERALLY made sure it was 1 to 1 plus more in the remake so you don’t HAVE to play the OG anymore because it’s legit the same game but better. Suddenly CAPCOM forgets how to be developers and releases remakes that SHIT on the original lol. So it’s not about not being able to play the old games, the point was having a faithful remake while making it feel new, but apparently they forgot how to develop the games since RE1 remake so. 🤣🤣 But for RE4 remake they seemed to learn their lesson and was way more faithful that playing the OG isn’t really needed anymore. (Unless people really want the nostalgia. I do love all the remakes for what they are and of course I play the originals daily, but let’s not pretend that what we received did the games justice. We also shouldn’t have to play the OGs just so we can get a sense of pleasure because the remakes changed and cut so much. (I’m looking at you RE3R) Again I just disagree with the basis that because the OGs are there, we shouldn’t criticize what they failed to do with remaking these games and we shouldn’t criticize just play the originals if we want the original experience. But this is just my take on the topic and really just my opinion. But I’m not gonna lie, I really love playing the remakes, they are hella fun and worth playing even with any sort of criticism. RE2R is so much fun to replay because the gameplay, story, ememies still feel like it did in the OG but better in a lot of aspects. RE3R is super fun to replay even on harder difficulties (yeah I’m looking at you inferno) and the modern Nemesis even though I hate his dog form, he still is scary af to run from in the beginning parts of the game. RE4R is just a fun wild ride and everyone that loves RE4 OG should appreciate the hard work they put into that remake.

A remake cannot possibly "replace" or "disrespect" the original when the original is available on all modern platforms idk why people get so mad over it

@legojack99 @MissPookems I own all the games already. I just mean after Dino Crisis 3 the franchise still died. I play Dino Crisis 1 and 2 all the time still but never again will I play 3! 🤣

I can acknowledge that RE3R is nowhere near the same quality as the other remakes but lets not over exaggerate. The remake version of Raccoon City is great. Capcom releasing a demo of this area permanently damaged the game upon release

I grew up and played RE3OG ever since I was really young, the remake is shit compared to the original. I could rant all day about all the differences but it would be a 700 page novel. That being said I like the RE3R it’s not that bad of a game at all just a shitty reimagining/remake.

@MisthiosGamer @ArklayEmbers NEST 2 is a better location than the Plant and the Clock Tower is irrelevant because the extraction point was changed to the park and the train never made it there. Also Jill going to RPD for a lockpick in the OG was dumb.

Yes RE3R had alot of wested potential to expand but please stop with the false narrative that the city in the remake was a line or a couple of streets when in reality here is the original city and remake city side by side

The OG isn’t overrated it’s just the better game. RE3 OG is my favorite game of all time but don’t act like the RE3R should be held to a higher point just because of smooth gameplay. The story in RE3R lacks ANYTHING worthwhile, completely changing routes exploitable to really small linear sections, cutting puzzles out, giving you a whole 2 little sections to explore that circle back into a neat small little bow, while having completely scripted 2 Nemesis fights that’s open in the tiny 2 areas and eventually just scripted boss and run away sequences before turning into a jumping dog, an angry teenage attitude from Jill while going to the substation to do a puzzle made for 2 year olds, and need I go on about all the EXTRA places cut from the game just to give us an RE2R sewer section and more linear boss fights and areas that can’t be explored because you’re forced to continue and never go back. So I’d say that RE3R is underwhelming while the RE3OG is very underrated by people like you who thinks that the fans are putting it on a pedestal because we are “fan boys of a mid game” while the RE3R is ACTUALLY the below mid game that is completely disgraceful to the original in everyway.

I like RE3 Remake but if you think that the map in RE3R is super exploitable then you are wrong. In the OG you have several places to back track and go to, while needing to get certain key items for the train, get the 3 jewels to unlock the city hall area, and a couple of puzzles in between all of that to do while fighting nemesis along the way in random places that he appears. Remake you have NO puzzles except the jewel box that LITERALLY is just for extra items, a lock pick for a few lockers and like 1 or 2 twos doors in the entire game and a bolt cutter that lasts 2 seconds. So you all in the comments can go on and on about “everyone’s too hard on the remake” and “the original is shit anyways and the remake has better gameplay.” Sorry, the RE3 OG map slaps the Remakes map with an iron skillet. Do I love RE3 OG yes, do I think RE3R is a really fun game? SURE! But don’t act like they are in the same league because the fact is RE3R is a linear, action, lack of nemesis mess. Don’t get me started about all the locations cut and the extra places you can go to in the OG during the clock tower and park sections before heading to the factory. This isn’t a hate towards your post because I agree the map in RE3R isn’t THAT small but it also isn’t big either. For a Remake of the entire city it was very lack luster and not very fun to explore because there IS nothing to explore except a couple of little buildings that has 1 floor to them and the square foot of a tiny apartment.

To anyone here in these comments, I know exactly how to get the STEAM and GOG versions to work with Steam Deck. It’s not very hard but it is time consuming and requires some files to get the best experience AND even get rid of the DRM for the Steam versions. Valve has released a fix for "all but one" of the Capcom GOG -> Steam releases for Steam Deck via a new Proton Experimental release. Dino Crisis 1 & 2 runs on my end. The one game that's not fixed may be RE2 (fix for the one will be in next update)
