In elevator today with DoorDash from LaLaLand. $8 coffee nets to $15 with fees. And we wonder why people feel broke.

Last year, the city of Austin turned off their Flock cameras as the result of a targeted misinformation campaign. This weekend, for nearly 24 hours, three suspects drove around Austin in stolen vehicles, undetected, conducting a shooting spree at 12 separate locations. They shot multiple people, houses, apartment buildings, businesses, and fire stations. They committed multiple robberies and car thefts during the spree. Despite a full manhunt involving 200 officers, with helicopter and K9 support, they weren't able to locate the suspects, and the spree continued. Luckily, the suspects drove into the Flock-supported city of Manor, TX. Manor is a small city with ~20k residents, and a fraction of Austin's budget. What they do have is modern technology and the ability not to fall victim to misinformation campaigns. After the suspects drove into Manor to continue their shooting spree, Manor PD located them almost immediately. The residents of Manor stayed safe. This is a tale of two cities. I love Austin. I have plenty of friends who live there. I myself almost moved there years ago. I'm glad that the shooting spree is over, but I just wish it never happened.

🚨Trump is tackling Medicare fraud by freezing new hospice and home health agency applications!... Texas (and all states) should do the same thing in our MediCAID programs! Today, I'm formally requesting Gov @GregAbbott_TX and @TexasHHSC immediately freeze all new hospice and home health applications for six months! Texas has a reputation for leading in conservative governance, but we must do more to live up to that reputation. And Texas should never be outdone by Washington, D.C. in fighting waste, fraud, and abuse. We must put Texas taxpayers and patients FIRST! Full letter: Dear Governor Abbott and Executive Commissioner Muth, I write not only as a member of the Texas legislature, but as a former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during President Trump’s first administration. Last week the Trump Administration announced bold action to combat the ever-increasing fraud within the Medicare system, including a six-month moratorium on new Medicare enrollment for hospices and home health agencies (HHAs). HHAs have long been recognized as the one of the “highest-risk Medicare provider/supplier types in terms of program integrity.” After discovering unusual and highly disturbing trends in HHA enrollment in the Los Angeles region, CMS announced last week that in addition to the moratorium it has taken action to shut down 800 fraudulent providers in Los Angeles. While Los Angeles’s data is especially concerning, CMS has cited blatant examples of fraud throughout the country, including in Texas. The CMS Administrator said during a recent public interview that the bad actors they’re targeting in California may be relocating to Texas. I believe he is likely correct. CMS’s new mortarium is good for Texas taxpayers, because Texas taxpayers also pay federal income taxes, which fund these programs. But the state of Texas can - and must - do even more to protect our taxpayers. As you are aware, the Trump Administration’s moratorium only applies to providers in the Medicare program, which is exclusively a federal program, and not to Medicaid providers, since those are under the purview of the states. Medicaid is rife with fraud. In fact, Paragon Health Institute research indicates that the improper payment rate may be as high as 25%. Texas – and all states – should take similar actions in our Medicaid program. Therefore, I am respectfully requesting you take all actions necessary to effectuate an immediate freeze on new applications for hospice and HHAs in the Texas Medicaid program. This would combat fraud, protect taxpayers and patients, and thwart any bad actors in California that may be in the process of moving to Texas. Further, during the pendency of this moratorium I ask that you conduct a thorough examination of potential fraud in our program to inform both the executive branch and the legislative branch as to whether this moratorium should be extended. For liberty, Brian Harrison

Reminder to everyone voting this week to NOT vote for Omar Narvaez for Justice of the Peace. Unqualified train wreck.
𝔻𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕒𝕤 𝔼𝕟 𝔽𝕦𝕖𝕘𝕠@dallasenfuego

COLLEGE DROPOUT FOR JUDGE? Omar Narvaez, candidate for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Place 2 in Dallas Co., Texas, not only has no law degree but also doesn't hold a college degree. But he likes to larp as a Longhorn by posting pictures of himself at @UTAustin games & tout his UT credentials where he “attended” but never graduated. He’s as qualified to make binding legal decisions as one-eyed monkey.

BIBLES COMING TO WYLIE EAST HIGH SCHOOL Radio host Chris Krok will join parents to distribute Bibles outside Wylie East High School on May 19 — months after “Why Islam?” representatives distributed Qurans and materials on campus without required approval. Wylie ISD called the earlier incident a procedural failure and said proper protocols were not followed. The Bible distribution is set for 8:15–9 a.m. as students arrive. dallasexpress.com/education/time…

Senator Tommy Tuberville says Barack Obama mass imported Somalis into Minnesota with the purpose of taking over the local government He says this is how Ilhan Omar got elected and the plan was to import so many more foreigners they could take over the federal government “First of all, why would President Obama be allowed to bring in 80,000 people from Somalia and put them in one area in Minnesota, which is Minneapolis? And it was all done by plan. It's a third world country. Not assimilate, to build their own neighborhoods, to overtake the local, state, and then federal government with Ilhan Omar. She's not even a citizen, but she's in Congress. I can't figure out how we've allowed this to happen. People that are non-US citizens to be in Congress, to be help making laws and voting on things.” You know how we can easily fix these things from happening almost immediately, I’ll tell you No one that’s foreign born should be allowed to run for federal office in America. Make immigrants be here at least a full generation before being allowed to serve Take it even further. No one foreign born should be allowed to serve at any level in American government Also mandatory English

The US just deployed 200 officers, SWAT, canines, helicopters, and drones to chase 3 teenagers. And nobody is talking about what that actually means. 🚨 🚨 🚨 AUSTIN DEPLOYED ITS ENTIRE TACTICAL APPARATUS AGAINST A CREW OF TEENAGERS — AND THE MATH TELLS YOU EVERYTHING 🚨 🚨 🚨 Two suspects: a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old. Pulled over in a stolen car. Third still at large. This is not a gang war. This is not organized crime. This is teenagers. THE WEAPON: → 10–12 shootings across south Austin in under 24 hours → Multiple stolen vehicles — suspects switched cars mid-spree → Fire stations targeted — not just civilians, emergency responders → Average rate: one shooting every 2 hours across a single city → Victims: explicitly random — no pattern, no motive, no target profile → Area covered: bounded by South Slaughter Ln, East McKinney Falls Pkwy, North Ben White Blvd, West Escarpment Blvd → Thousands of residents locked inside their homes on a Sunday afternoon → Shelter-in-place order extended to Manor area as search expanded THE TARGET: → 4 people hit — 1 critically → South Austin residents across multiple neighborhoods → Fire station crews responding to emergencies → A city of nearly 1 million people effectively paralyzed by 2–3 suspects THE MATH: → Nearly 200 officers deployed — for 3 teenagers → SWAT + canine units + helicopters + drones — full tactical stack → Austin cut its police budget by 25% in prior years → The city now needed its entire remaining tactical capacity to respond to what a handful of kids started in stolen cars Read that again. 💀 10 shootings. 3 suspects. 200 officers. One city. One day. 💀 The shelter-in-place covered more ground than most natural disaster responses 💀 Two of the suspects are minors — the system now has to decide what to do with a 15-year-old who shot at fire stations ⚠️ Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis confirmed the random pattern publicly — no target logic, no grievance, no ideology ⚠️ Mayor Kirk Watson confirmed 4 injured and 2 in custody — third suspect was still being hunted when the order was lifted ⚠️ Public reaction immediately pointed to prior budget cuts and DA Jose Garza's prosecution record as context They're showing you the shelter-in-place order. They're NOT showing you what it means when a city's entire tactical response — every helicopter, every drone, every SWAT unit — gets consumed by 3 teenagers in stolen cars for 24 hours. That's not a crime story. That's a stress test of an entire municipal system. And the system passed — barely — with everything it had. You don't deploy 200 officers to a neighborhood because the math is manageable. You deploy 200 officers when the math has already broken. When 10 shootings in 24 hours by minors in stolen cars is the thing standing between a city and something worse. I'll keep you updated as this unfolds, turn on notifications this is EXTREMELY important.
