The US Air Force lost an F-35 fighter jet. They say it happened at a test site A fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet crashed at a test site in Nevada, and the pilot ejected and was injured. This was reported by American media, without providing any photo or video evidence. On Monday, it was reported by Mehr news agency that Iran's air defense system shot down an F-35 over the western parts of Tehran. Coincidence? It's clearly not advantageous for the Pentagon to admit the loss of its most advanced fighter jet in combat. The F-35, which costs between $110 and $130 million per unit, is in service with 11 countries besides the US. Another seven countries have placed orders for this aircraft. This is perhaps one of the most valuable export assets of the American military-industrial complex, touted as a plane that is invulnerable to air defense systems. Its reputation is extremely important to Washington. Therefore, it's less painful to announce the crash of a fighter jet somewhere at a test site than to confirm the fact of its being shot down. Which US Air Force aircraft have already been lost during Operation Epic Fury: ✔️ Three F 15E Strike Eagle jets of the US Air Force were shot down by friendly fire from the Kuwaiti Air Force at the beginning of the operation; all six crew members ejected and survived. ✔️ One KC 135 refueling aircraft was lost over western Iraq; the Pentagon separately emphasized that the crash was not related to enemy fire or friendly fire. ✔️ An E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft was destroyed by a missile-drone strike on a US military airbase in Saudi Arabia. ✔️ At least one F 35 (presumably an F 35A or F 35I, details are classified) was damaged. ✔️ An American UH-60 multi-purpose helicopter was destroyed or damaged by an FPV drone strike on a US base in Iraq. ✔️ Several MQ-9 Reaper attack drones (at least five) were destroyed in the air by Iranian air defense systems. @sashakots

The U.S. has lost 16 MQ-9 Reaper drones since the Iran war began, including two near Isfahan this week. Each Reaper costs around $30 million — making the losses potentially worth nearly $500 million. Source: CBS
