10/10 We are working on collecting more data & looking into the effects of intrinsic curvature. We hope to soon find the parameters (n>1) that accurately describe DNA mismatches and see how this correlates to mismatch repair efficiencies. Proud member of the @HaroldKimLab

9/10 Monte Carlo (MC) sims of harmonic bending give expected anti-correlation. An anharmonic model reduces energy for sharp bending, approximating a melting/kinking behavior. MC for this spreads out the data points, meaning that mismatches take on two bend parameters.

1/10 The #WLC Model is useful in describing DNA with harmonic bending. Is one parameter enough for sharp bending, like with #MutS during mismatch repair? Our #single_molecule #FRET study suggests no! See my #BPS2021 poster (or below) for more info: cdmcd.co/LdWMwg

Graduate student research has a nice balance between experiment and analysis. When one becomes overwhelming or exhausting, the other is there with open arms to provide respite. I'm beginning to miss taking data.
