This morning was personal. Today we unveiled a City of Philadelphia Historical Marker in honor of my mentor, my political mother, my everything—Marian B. Tasco. How do you find words for someone who helped to shape your life? Marian saw promise in me when I was a young woman, hired me to serve alongside her in City Council, encouraged me to run for the Pennsylvania House, urged me to step up for the 9th Councilmanic District when she retired, and supported me every step of the way—even when I decided to run for Mayor of Philadelphia. As I’ve always said, I stand on the shoulders of so many incredible women who paved the way — but no one ever paved the way for me more than Marian Tasco. Today, we honor her legacy as a trailblazer, a kingmaker, and a fearless champion for Philadelphia. Boss Lady, congratulations. This marker is only a fraction of the true impact you’ve left on our city. ————————————— @CouncilmemberKJ @RepDwightEvans
