Actually the marketing team purposefully led into teasing the fandom it might be about Verosika to troll. This was confirmed by Eric and the animation director. So it's not 100% the fandom's fault; it's 100% on them for misleading their audience.
And Chaz's dance in the video was rotoscoped from a dance Raph-II did, the person who makes rape art.

Eric, himself, said that they intentionally made the teaser image to be vaguely close to Ver to fuck with the fans “for the memes.”
