I know Chelsea fans don't want to hear it but Garnacho has been decent this year with what he's been tasked to do. - 3rd in open play xA p90 (behind Cherki and Doku) - 2nd in chances created from carries (behind Doku) - reduced from 3.51 shots p90 at United to 2.24 at Chelsea; 10% of his shots at United came on fast breaks, only 1 of his 28 at Chelsea has (and it was a 0.02 xG shot from outside the box) He's most effective when he can get out in transition, run into space, and attack with the intent to shoot. He's still being asked to make vertical runs off the ball, but in settled situations against set defenses he doesn't have the ability to create from nothing with his tight space dribbling (99% of wingers don't and those that do + don't have other debilitating negatives to their game you can count on one hand). This is why he's turned to being a creator first; if you look at his creation map, 19 of the 23 chances he's created in the league have been directionally lateral or backwards. I've never seen anything like that. Being asked to do things that aren't his game, and he's still somehow producing top end creative numbers. I'm pretty certain the "issue" is with the fit of the player in the system, not the player itself.
