Preach! We may have singlehandedly turned Target’s numbers around.

This is the central problem with higher education in the age of AI. We can't require students to do take-home writing assignments (e.g. term papers) any more, because most will cheat and have ChatGPT or Claude or Grok do the writing. But we can't teach critical thinking, rationality, perseverance, & scholarship without requiring writing assignments that they work on -- researching, drafting, editing, revising, polishing -- over a period of days or weeks. The result may be a whole generation of students who can't really write, or think, or articulate what they really believe and value, and why.

I signed up and committed to running an SAT/ACT Math prep "camp" at my school's summer camps. It's 4 hours daily, M-F, 1 week. I'll start & end w/practice tests, but I'm debating how to frame the rest of the time. Have you done this? What worked best for you? #MTBoS #ITeachMath

In calculus, we talk pretty frequently about multiplying by "convenient form of 1" to do some algebraic manipulation. This is similar, relying on properties of additive inverses instead of multiplicative inverses. I can't wait to share it with my students!
