Maize cut and in the pit, Average yield of 22.25T per acre(19.8TDM/Ha) forage rye earlier in the year done an average of 4-4.5TDM/ha. Within 13 months we have approx 24TDM/ha of forage off this land. Grass is great but hard to compete with this production & land use!

Calves consuming just over 25kg of milk replacer over 35 days in rearing shed. Built up to 3kg of TMR and moved to weaned shed. Leave farm at 140kg having consumed about 300kg of concentrates. Target is to rear 8000 calves. Majority BB calves on farm but also Longhorns and Angus

Latest national dairy cow numbers for the UK is down by nearly 50%. Meanwhile the number of cars has increased from 1.6mln to 33.2mln in the UK alone over the same period. Less cows, more cars but still it’s ruminants to blame for global warming. Good one.

It's taken a bit of hard work over a few years and plenty of blood sweat and tears but @mkbartlett13 and I have finally bought our own dairy farm. 380 acres and about the same again in lease area. Just have to pay for it now😀 The madness starts tomorrow morning at 5am🐄🐄
