Let us look at the facts behind this YouGov poll and ask the questions that mainstream media conveniently ignores. How exactly did YouGov verify these respondents? The Labour Party membership database is private and protected by data laws. YouGov does not have access to it. This poll relies entirely on a self-declared online panel. Anyone can tick a box online and claim to be a Labour member, including supporters of Reform or the Tories. There is zero institutional verification. Look at the sample size: just 706 self-declared people. Are we honestly supposed to believe that a tiny, unverified sample of 706 individuals represents the voice of hundreds of thousands of registered Labour members across the country? The timing is the most revealing part. This poll was conducted between 14 and 18 May 2026. This is the exact window when Josh Simons prepared and executed his resignation to clear the path for Andy Burnham in Makerfield. This is not a reflection of real public opinion. It is manufactured consent, perfectly timed to create a media bandwagon for a factional coup. So let us run a test right here. I am opening the comments, which I normally never do because of the bots. Let us see if we can gather 700 Labour members right under this post. Share this widely, leave a comment, and let us test their logic. I promise I will 'trust' that you are a genuine Labour member. After all, if YouGov can do it, so can we, right? Please tell me IF IT COMES TO THE ELECTION OF A NEW LEADER who would you support? Please share this widely #Labour #Starmer #AndyBurnham #YouGov #UKPolitics #LabourMembers

@joshsimonsmp I'm tired of sycophantic chancers like you. Strong MAGA vibes. We have a decent Prime Minister in Keir Starmer.

Last week’s strong growth figures show that this government has the right economic plan. Today, the IMF has upgraded the UK’s growth forecast. We are building a stronger, fairer Britain.

Poll shows Starmer to lose against Burnham, Rayner, Miliband but win against Streeting. So are those of us here supporting Starmer in an echo chamber, bc from my own fag packet monitoring of responses here, support is 50/50 followers/non-followers suggeting far wider support?

@AndyBurnhamGM So you let Starmer do two years of groundwork. He did the hard slog. The stuff that was unpopular to get us into a good economical space. Then you pop your head above the parapet and want to take the glory. You gave him less than 2 years. You disgust me.

Hope. That’s what @AndyBurnhamGM is offering. Hope. It’s not difficult. We came in saying it’s all bad and it’s going to get worse. What sort of an offer was that?

Keir Starmer is not an accidental leader. He won a leadership election, reformed Labour, won a historic majority and has stabilised the economy, cut NHS waiting lists and delivered the biggest uplift in workers' rights in a generation. The public would not forgive us for chaos.

Please repost if you agree that it would be extremely unwise for Labour to remove Keir Starmer right now

Great to meet my old PE teacher, the legend that is Mr O’D, whilst campaigning in Ashton. Once told me I couldn’t play football for the school amymore if I didn’t play rugby league as I wasn’t tough enough. Sound advice which will stand me in good stead in this campaign! 💪🏻
