🚩It’s not like there weren’t red flags. Provost took over at the Academy when Det. Lt. Scott McDonald and Lt. Brian Gladu were removed in 2022. Multiple recruits were injured after being forced to do bear crawls across hot pavement. This was the new leadership that was going to change the Academy. But really, nothing changed. In November 2023, @NBC10Boston reported that recruits of the 89th RTT were dropping out at record rate. Provost said that half of the female recruits and 45% of the male recruits quit because “this profession is just not something they’re interested in doing anymore.” They just changed their minds about their career choice in unprecedented numbers🤷‍♀️. The 89th RTT was the one before Enrique Delgado-Garcia’s. Meanwhile, the top 3 reasons recruits really left were medical/injury, unprepared physically and/or mentally, and wrong career choice. About hazing, Provost said “I would say that’s probably the candidates who have not allowed themselves to experience or to identify what their thresholds were.” He said he did not think the intensity of the training is too harsh. In November 2024, @NBC10Boston released data that showed 185 injuries reported across recruiting classes since 2018. Some of these injuries included broken bones, muscle tears, concussions, and a gunshot wound. Enrique’s death was completely preventable. Maybe, if in 2022, MSP had taken real steps for reform at the Academy instead of shuffling out the guilty parties and shuffling in new leadership, Enrique would still be here. Maybe if they reevaluated the program again in 2023 when recruits were quitting in record numbers and made actual changes, none of this would have happened. There were red flags and they had their chances to shape up. Sounds like Provost is making out pretty well here! He was the leader, he oversaw this failing program the last couple years, made no changes, had a recruit killed on his watch, is granted immunity, walks away from the Academy unscathed, and in fact gets a promotion to one of the highest commands in MSP! Four subordinates indicted and Provost (and others) are sitting pretty. For now.

🚨BREAKING: A source with direct knowledge has told me that Lt. Col. Jon Provost, commandant of the MSP Academy when Enrique Delgado-Garcia was killed, was granted full immunity during the grand jury to indict Penton, Rodriguez, Montanez, and LaMonte. I am being told he testified against the four and that it is unprecedented for a judge to grant a top leader full immunity during grand jury proceedings. I was also told that Provost was in charge of the boxing curriculum and planning. Why is the top leader of the Academy escaping accountability in this mess he created? Why was he allowed immunity? What say you Colonel Noble and @MassStatePolice?

What happened to Kelsey Fitzsimmons at the hearing to modify release conditions that she have no contact with her child is indefensible. The harm and trauma to her and the baby is incalculable. Why did a superior court judge get to do just that without making mandatory findings?

Remember when Brian Higgins hired a criminal defense attorney within 5 days of John O'Keefe's murder and had his first unrecorded, police interview at a sitting judge's home? An attorney who had just wrapped up a murder case where the victim was in a drunken fight, got punched, fell onto the back of his head and died? This case that magically had missing video footage and included suspicious connections to the Quincy police and where it was speculated that the DA, Michael Morrissey, was present for the murder? A case that was publicly well known as the media took hold of it? Funny coincidences.
