🚀 A historic moment for Sacramento State and downtown Sacramento. 🎉 We are proud to announce Sacramento State has secured $50 million from @Meta in partnership with the State of California, @CalifDGS to advance a first-of-its-kind 2 to 5 million square foot mixed-use downtown development that will create a new Sacramento State Capital Campus. This will be steps from the State Capitol serving students, faculty, staff, and the broader community while driving economic growth for the entire region. This transformational project is made possible through strong public-private partnerships and visionary leadership. Thank you to Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, and the Meta leadership team for their continued commitment to innovation, workforce development, and the future of our communities. O’Neal joins the program shortly after the appointment of former Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to head men’s basketball coach. O’Neal will focus on recruitment, marketing, and holistic player development - both on and off the court. O’Neal has waived a salary and will serve in a volunteer capacity. #StingersUp

Sacramento State and the California Department of General Services (@CalifDGS) announced today that the University will evaluate and perform due diligence to pursue a state-of-the-art downtown center near the State Capitol, an innovative partnership to boost the downtown economy, bring added housing, and expand opportunities for Sacramento State. The proposal would bring Sacramento State students, staff and faculty even closer to the State Capitol, offering students an unprecedented opportunity to learn and shape their careers mere steps from the seat of government of the world’s fifth-largest economy. DGS has granted a period of exclusive rights for the University to evaluate the real estate and the properties to ensure financial viability. While currently at the concept stage, the project would entail the transfer of the Employment Development Department (EDD) Headquarters Building, the EDD Solar Building, and the State Personnel Building – all located along Capitol Mall between 8th and 9th streets – to Sac State for the new center. "The Department of General Services is eager to explore Sacramento State’s vision for a downtown campus encompassing education, hospitality and housing that will bring renewed energy and an economic boost to the capital city." -- DGS Director Ana M.
