Glad to have been invited on the @LawyersWeekly show podcast to talk about about barrister wellbeing, bullying, and how 'cancel culture' chills honest conversations - holding back our understanding of wellbeing and how to support it.

@fchralph I agree. My youngest daughter is a rower (at a different private school) and about 4 days before this incident she passed out during training. On hearing about this tragic death I wrote to the school asking about their health and safety policies.

I remember a young man died from a brain aneurism during rowing when I was at MGS. It’s pretty intense; but I question the need to write an article with quotes like, “but when you row, you’re already in the upper echelons of society.”
A child has died and his family and friends are in mourning.

@DominicVillaSC It’s interesting. It seems odd to do this publicly. Why not have an informal discussion about this within the confines of chambers or some other private setting?

@JaneCaro I met him once at Victorian Bar Association event that we both spoke at years ago. He was very warm and personable, such a stark contrast to recent news reports. I wish him well.

This article mentions Andrew’s kindness. That was my experience of him too. I hope he finds his way back. smh.com.au/culture/celebr…

@fchralph No, inside of every lawyer is a little kid who gets a “sugar high” on books and stationary.

It has been my privilege to serve on Bar Council this year. I stood for Bar Council then, as I stand again now, to improve the wellbeing resources available to support a diverse and thriving Bar. @VictorianBar members I hope you will consider casting a vote for me.

Filming scenes for the Victorian Bar health and well-being committee film on barrister well-being today. Deeply grateful to the @SCVSupremeCourt for allowing us to use one of their court rooms and to @LudlowsAus for loaning us judges robes.

@MichelleRSharpe One part soda water, two parts limoncello, three parts dry prosecco. Squeeze of fresh lemon.
Garnish with thinly sliced lemon or lime. Can add rosemary, or basil for decoration.
Get a good limoncello though. Makes the difference.

On 21 June 2023 I will be chairing a seminar hosted by the @VictorianBar Health and Wellbeing Committee in which Prof. Andrew Carroll will discuss the concept of ‘vicarious trauma’ and explore the psychobiology of empathic responding.
