🇺🇸BREAKING: Louisiana Republicans are cancelling an ongoing election to eliminate Black majority districts. The election already started. People have already voted. Republicans are about to cancel those votes. Never in American history has an election been cancelled this way.

Congress has let drug companies rip off Americans for decades. Lobbyists, campaign cash, and a system that protects industry profits. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

🚨 Trump declared Ukraine “militarily defeated” today. The facts he cited to prove it? 159 ships sunk. No navy. No Air Force. Those are facts about Iran. Not Ukraine. He confused the two wars he’s currently fighting. On a live briefing. After a private call with Putin.

Manhattan, 1931 — before the skyline became a forest of towers. In this aerial view, Central Park cuts through a dense city of mostly low- and mid-rise buildings, while only a few skyscrapers rise above the grid — including the newly completed Empire State Building. What makes the image even more striking: Manhattan had more residents in the early 20th century than it does today. Its population peaked in 1910 at over 2.3 million, compared with about 1.69 million in the 2020 census. Photo: John Victor Dallin / Hagley Museum and Library.

In New York today, The King and Queen have paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial.   During their time at the site, Their Majesties honoured the lives that were lost during the attacks, and recognised the courage of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts.   This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

Reminder that any political party trying to make it harder to vote is sending a clear message: they can't win on their ideas alone.

We've spent an estimated $25B on Trump's war on Iran. Now Trump and Co. want even more money to fund the war. But healthcare? Cut. Food stamps? Cut. Education? Cut. Cancer research? Cut. Environmental protections? Cut. And of course, taxes on the rich? Cut. Obscene.

Hochul spent three months publicly opposing Mamdani. Then stood next to him and announced New York’s first ever pied-à-terre tax. An annual surcharge on luxury properties worth $5 million or more whose owners don’t live in the city. $500 million a year in new revenue. Elizabeth Warren ran for president on a wealth tax. It didn’t pass. Bernie Sanders ran twice on taxing billionaires. It didn’t pass. NYC mayors proposed this exact tax for over a decade. None of them passed. Mamdani got a governor who opposed him to sign it in 100 days. If he can do it — they all can. Execution is not impossible. It’s just been optional.

South Carolina State University students protested. The Lieutenant Governor will no longer speak at their commencement. An HBCU just flexed its power and won.

WOW Pete Hegseth just lied under oath before Congress. Asked whether he’d follow the President or the Constitution, he claimed Biden deployed troops to polling locations in 15 states in 2024. It never happened. Federal law prohibits deploying armed forces to polling locations. It didn’t happen under Biden. It didn’t happen under any president. He lied. Under oath. To Congress.

Disgraceful. Ro Khanna just made Pete Hegseth look completely lost at his own hearing. Khanna: “How much did it cost taxpayers when the US struck a school?” Hegseth: “I wouldn’t tie a cost to it.” Then Khanna tied a cost to it. $25 billion in 30 days. The Secretary of Defense couldn’t answer a basic question about the war he’s running. So a congressman had to do it for him. Watch through the end.

Hegseth told Congress today Iran’s nuclear facilities have been “obliterated.” Rep. Adam Smith: “You said we had to start this war because the nuclear weapon was an imminent threat. Now you’re saying it was completely obliterated?” So which is it? If it was obliterated — why did we start the war? If it wasn’t obliterated — why are you saying it was? Pete Hegseth can’t keep his own story straight under oath.

🧵THREAD: The Supreme Court ruled today that drawing a congressional district to give Black voters fair representation is unconstitutional racial discrimination. The Court did not rule that drawing a district to take Black voters' representation away is unconstitutional racial discrimination. That is the actual ruling. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Supreme Court struck down Louisiana's congressional map. The map created two majority-Black districts in a state where Black Americans make up roughly one third of the population. The Court ruled that the second majority-Black district was an "unconstitutional racial gerrymander." Justice Samuel Alito wrote the majority opinion. Now I want to walk you through what this actually means.

The mic cut out during O Canada at the Sabres game. Buffalo filled every single second of silence. Sang it word for word. This is how you tell your neighbors you see them. We love Canada. Don’t listen to the noise.
