Nottm's biggest Priv Provider of housing to Benefit tenants over 26 years. If Govt & Council bashes Landlord, this really hurts tenant with extortionate rents

Rachel Reeves says she's lifting half a million children out of poverty. Hang on a minute-How's she doing that then? She's just put an extra 2% on rental income. Where does a Landlady get her rent from? What is happening to that rent now? @Alison_McGovern linkedin.com/posts/mick-rob…

When will the uninformed public realise it's Govt & Council's that are mostly responsible for the high rents tenants face today. Give an hour on TV to educate people & tenants will realise the higher costs are mostly due to Govt & Council policies. thenegotiator.co.uk/news/rental-ma…

@MickRobertsBoss @BeadleBen Hi Mick, have you been approached by any landlords who are buying on your patch? If so, what sort of yield are they after? Since s24 and the end of cheap rates, I cannot see it working anywhere for less than 7 or 8% gross yield

Can’t say I'm surprised that unlawful renting of short-term lets is on the rise. Govt is absolutely right to want to bring these properties into the #PRS - but to do that, you need carrot and not stick. The last govt made short term lets attractive by taxing #PRS homes more harshly - wrong move. I know the tax system will be changed to reverse this - but to bring these homes back into PRS use, we should be incentivising long term #renting through the tax system - so responsible letting is a positive choice for investors, not the least worst option. It’s why the #rentersrights bill must be amended too, to give #housing providers confidence to stay in the market, get their homes back when they have a valid reason, in a short time frame. With 12 #tenants chasing every home, it’s bold pro growth tax measures that keep homes in the rented sector that are needed, to encourage new homes to be built and acquired. Its steps like this that will solve the housing crisis and increase supply. Not over regulation. bbc.com/news/articles/…

@BeadleBen 2/2 No joined up thinking the colossal homelessness and costs these cause. Ooh let's ban pet deposits. We not taking pets then. Let's ban not taking Benefit tenants. We'll ban em on affordability then and just waste their time. 176 new rules since 2015 all hurting good tenants

So @UKLabour recognises bureaucracy increases cost, blocks new housing. We are Housing Providers. Tenants pay more for increased regulations. So why does Labour Party wish to block new housing for desperate tenants? More regs less houses @katefaulkner Faulkner OBE @BeadleBen

My tenants house has got rats coming through (excuse her grammar) cause @MyNottingham house next door not being acted upon by Council. So Priv Landlords pay for Sel Licensing, meanwhile Council pay zero and do zero and their houses cause problems for those that pay for Licensing.

Why Ed Miliband @ng_labour, are you always trying to increase Private tenants rents? By wanting EPC C. What if the tenant was paying cheap rent say £200pm below normal & Landlord got to spend £6000-What do you think is going to happen to that rent? @BeadleBen @katefaulkner

Does @ACORNunion really think this is helping their tenants get houses off Priv Landlords? "We have a right to a home.” What do u think is gonna happen when that Landlord/Landlady is about to house you & you say Ooh by the way, you never getting this back! thenegotiator.co.uk/news/regulatio…

Everything they call for, makes it worse for the next tenants. And more expensive. Sounds great if the person giving was a charity and had a magic money tree. Mr Landlord, you will withdraw your investment and house me for £3000 less pa than your investment. Aah right ok then

@MickRobertsBoss @BeadleBen Had to sell the inherited home we'd lived in for 6 yrs over a disputed care home debt. Lost the case in court. Our credit was shot, only one was working at the time but we were cash rich. Paid 6 months upfront to secure rental. We'd be homeless if this bill had been in then.

The days of landlords accommodating renters with: ✅ CCJs ✅ bad or no credit record ✅no proof of income or none at all ✅temporary employment contracts or in probationary periods ✅ no uk guarantor (such as students, especially overseas) Will soon be over. There - fixed your tweet, Minister. Luckily there’s plenty of social housing to go round 🫤

The days of landlords demanding extortionate amounts of rent in advance from prospective renters will soon be over. Our Renters Rights Bill, which has its final stages in the commons today, will cap rent in advance payments to a maximum of one month.
