The sins of humanity. Which is a big claim, albeit a very compelling one, which we also believe to be true. Because it redeems all of humanity of our short-falling of the glory of God.” MAHER: “I gotta say, it’s really picking up the check for the whole table. I mean, you gotta give it to your boy. For all of our sins? It’s a very generous thing. Very generous!”

As a Marine who deployed with the 31st MEU as an 0331 machine gunner. I want to let you know those boys give zero fucks about going in there and obeying orders from the commander in chief. They look forward to it. Have trained for it since day 1. Been the first kids on their block to want the confirmed kill. Shit gets real when they open up the magazine on the ship and start passing out live ammo. But your dick gets hard, know what I'm saying? You think I give a fuck about the politics when I'm holding that 240? LOL I AM A WAR FIGHTING MACHINE, LET ME IN COACH!!!! That is the attitude to be the best. If you don't have it they will just cycle you out like the bitch that you are. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Pause for just a second to reflect on how momentous this is. There is no major US ground presence in Iran. We had a downed airman trapped there for ~ three days. And thanks to SPECOPS capabilities we usually only encounter irl in the movie theater or through a game console, he's safe. After some recovery time & a significant debriefing, he'll presumably be on the way home soon. Instead of locked away in some shithole in the Middle East. Used as a pawn by what's left of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to score a few cheap PR points and give the appearance that they stand even half a chance against the full power of the US & Israel militaries - combined. That's not going to happen now. Thanks to the training that weapons officer ("wizzo") internalized & resources + overwhelming firepower @DeptofWar brought to bear to find him & bring him home, no matter what. This all went down just a few short hours ago. In the process, it brings an end to ~ 3 days of intense operations about which we in the general public will hopefully read about in a full novel treatment one day. While we wait, name another duo of countries besides 🇺🇸 + 🇮🇱 that could pull this off. There simply is no one else that could implement a complex CSAR rescue op behind enemy lines in the absence of an established ground presence. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the countless people involved behind the veil of secrecy to bring this airman home in the most challenging of circumstances. To the wizzo who is now safe, everyone involved who made it happen, and to all servicemembers who continue to answer the call: thank you. You don't hear it enough, but your effort & sacrifice & personal risk are deeply appreciated. More than you will ever truly know.
