@MickleVision_ I think Shadow of the Tomb Raider, did it best, by allowing you to choose the traversal difficulty. With three levels to choose from, you can have highlights and bright white paint, or just subtle paint, to no paint at all. Making the experience very customizable.

There's a place for signposting and could probably be done more subtly with a little thought Doesnt make me enraged though. The game is more than it's yellow paint
