Success at the summit. @nsgblackcats team scales Mount Everest and helps in the clean up process as well. The 10-member team carried out medical support and clean-up efforts during the mission. A remarkable feat of endurance, discipline, and Nepal-India friendship. @ndtv @NDTVWORLD #NewsWithNDTV #mickyjournalist📹🤳🎤 #mickyreporter📱🎤📺

“साहस की विजय” | Victory through Courage• The Black Cats stood on the roof of the world. 🇮🇳 An #NSG team led by Maj Akhilesh Bhatt summited Mt Everest (8,848.86 m) on 23 May 2026. Departing Delhi on 30 April, the team reached Everest Base Camp on 09 May and stood atop the world just fourteen days later — completing the mission from departure to summit in a remarkable twenty days, an unprecedented feat. Ice. Thin air. Death-zone winds. Every step demanded courage. Every breath tested endurance. But the Black Cats climbed on — with grit, discipline and an unbreakable spirit. Together, they carried the Tricolour and the pride of NSG to the highest point on Earth. This historic achievement was made possible through relentless training, meticulous planning and the invaluable support and encouragement extended by the Ministry of Home Affairs throughout the expedition. From Counter-Terror missions to the Summit of Everest — the Black Cats continue to prove that no challenge is beyond the resolve of India’s elite force. #NSG #BlackCats #Everest #Everest2026 #EverestSummit #MountEverest #साहसकीविजय #सर्वत्रसर्वोत्तमसुरक्षा #MHA @PMOIndia @PIBHomeAffairs @HMOIndia @adgpi

Two years ago on this day, 25.05.2024; I climbed Mt Everest three times in a single climbing season, becoming the first woman in history, and the only woman so far, to achieve this feat. From an ordinary farmer family in Gorkha, Nepal 🇳🇵 to the highest point on Earth, the journey was never easy. Behind every summit were struggles, doubts, pain, sacrifices, and countless moments where giving up would have been easier than moving forward. But the mountains taught me one powerful truth: willpower is always stronger than fear. To every girl chasing a dream, your background does not decide your future. It does not matter where you come from, how small your village is, or how impossible your dream may seem. Never stop believing in yourself. Dream fearlessly. Stand strong through every storm. Because even the highest mountains in the world are climbed one step at a time.

Read my column in @the_hindu today: Busting two myths around the Bengal polls. @TheHinduComment A dominant narrative suggests the BJP’s gains came from a fresh erosion of the Left and Congress vote base—the familiar “Baam to Raam” thesis. But that shift largely occurred from 2019 onwards and was already visible in the 2021 Assembly election data; this time, any fresh transfer appears negligible. The second myth is that this victory reflects an unprecedented Hindu consolidation. That consolidation was already substantially achieved by 2021. What the BJP appears to have gained this time was less ideological endorsement and more anti-incumbency support. A significant share of the vote was cast not in passionate support of the BJP’s larger ideological project, but in emphatic rejection of Mamata Banerjee’s regime. thehindu.com/opinion/op-ed/…

।। The 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 বৈঠক ।। A sum of ₹4,000 crore could modernize nearly 35–40 km of Kolkata’s tram network with new AC low-floor trams, rebuilt tracks, smart stations, upgraded depots and dedicated lanes, creating a modern 21st century Light Rail Transit (LRT) system. West Bengal currently operates roughly 2,200–2,300 government buses across state transport operators. In comparison, Karnataka operates over 22,000 government buses, Tamil Nadu around 20,000, Maharashtra over 15,000 and Gujarat more than 11,000. The same ₹4,000 crore could alternatively fund the purchase of around 6,500 AC CNG buses or roughly 2,000–2,500 electric AC buses, potentially transforming public transport connectivity across much larger parts of the state. Should Bengal prioritize building a world-class modern tram/LRT system to put Kolkata back on the world map, or use that money to massively expand bus connectivity across the state? Please share your thoughts 👇🏻💭

I took this photo on 19 May while climbing from Camp III toward Camp IV on Mt Everest. At that moment, I never imagined it would go viral across the world. I was simply doing my job, documenting the mountain as an expedition photographer and photojournalist. This season, the Khumbu Icefall route was delayed for several days due to the serac block above the route. The delays also affected acclimatisation rotations for many teams, forcing climbers to adjust their schedules and wait longer than planned. Because of this, a huge number of climbers targeted the 20 May weather window at the same time, and you can actually see that buildup in this photo: a line of climbers moving high above the Lhotse Face toward Camp IV. What followed became one of the biggest summit days from the Nepal side in Everest history, with 274 climbers successfully reaching the summit in a single day. Sometimes, one frame captures far more than a moment, it captures an entire season.
