His point here is important - when AI handles the code generation, the engineer's value shifts to the decisions above the code: 1. what do we build? 2. why? for whom? 3. and how it all fits together. If you thought America was spending “too much” on defense because of NATO, just wait until you learn what we would have to spend without NATO to maintain even a fraction of our global influence. Losing NATO — which is what will happen if we attempt to coerce Denmark (read Article I) — will be the surest and fastest way to global decline. Now, if you are Russia or China, you would surely welcome this. But if you are an American, you wouldn’t. The administration is either bluffing or they are incomparable idiots the likes of which we have never seen in our history, or we will have to revisit that kompromat idea that I have always resisted.

Meanwhile, real totalitarian hellholes - like Russia and China - get aestheticized authoritarianism, and suspiciously enthusiastic defenders. Funny how that works. This is not a public square. It’s an algorithmically amplified sewer - Kremlinite and CCP ops, bots arguing with bots, engagement farms, and prostitutes selling their OnlyFans. I’m seriously reconsidering my presence here. Substack is way more civilized platform, and you could tell it is not run by a ketamine addict.

How the US elects its president and how the EU appoints its Commission are fundamentally different systems. American voters choose their head of government every four years. EU citizens, however, have no direct influence over who becomes President of the Commission or who sits in it. This is not about being “pro” or “anti” EU — it's simply a democratic gap that many Europeans feel. More direct legitimacy would strengthen trust in EU institutions.

How about a direct election of the US President? Let's be consistent, Elon!

since a fuck ton of people dm on why lowercase writing & now some complaints on copying… lemme explain the my thesis on lowercase: i have a deep disdain for capital letters because uniform text is cleaner, more elegant.. there is no arbitrary hierarchy, no forced structure disrupting the flow. lowercase removes friction, lets ideas stand on their own. everything exists on the same plane, creating balance, visual harmony, & a kind of effortless cohesion. it also lets your brain process information faster ironically. i’ve been writing this way since middle school, even in professional emails. when i worked in corporate i would send vp’s emails in all lowercase. people lose their minds over it, mistaking it for laziness when it’s actually a deliberate considered choice. ppl’s frustration only proves the point… which is how fragile their attachment to meaningless formality really is. also sama didn’t invent lowercase writing just like he didn’t invent the transformer. lowercase is better.

@ThePrimeagen Similar problems for GPS locations. People talk about Latitude Longitude, which is Y. X. And in many datasets it’s an untyped array. MapLibre solves it a bit by calling it LngLat. Oh and you can spell Longitude as Lon, Lng or Long. 😱
