Guys it's okay. No reason to be scared 😂 My life mission to make crypto taxes not suck. Sat: koinly founder scraping our tutorial Sun: cointracker bullying me in the comments Mon: tokentax adds recaptchas to make it hard to switch to Awaken. These tactics don't win. Best product does. And I was coding til 2am last night IDK about you.

I’ve noticed some startups pivot away from markets that feel overly hot because they think the contrarian move is to go somewhere less crowded. But the real issue is not the market. It is that the team lacks the domain expertise needed to break through. That quickly turns into negative self talk The market is too hot. Every competitor is already doing it. There is no margin left. It is not technically possible. Then an extremely domain specific team enters the same market and figures out every problem the other teams could not solve. This is why domain expertise or passion matters so much when choosing a startup idea.

In startups it’s really hard to time early markets. You can end up way too early and then just waiting for a market to materialize. Or the market might not be good and you’re just trying to catch a falling knife. And you have no clue which. Only tool you have is intuition.

It’s actually really hard to do this. We have had some insane customers. Super abusive. But when you cancel them (refund) they get so mad they go scorched earth. One of ours left bad reviews of us on every site imaginable. They still show up if you google us and you can’t get them taken down.
Manoj Ahirwar@manoj_ahi

you can just cancel rude customers btw

This is *exactly* what I predicted would happen. I said Chinese models would have advanced cyber capabilities within a matter of months and the only thing to do about it was to use AI-powered cyberdefense to protect our systems. Trying to gatekeep models doesn’t work.
Sebastian Mallaby@scmallaby

I get it. But Kimi K3 also tells us that Mythos-level cyber capability is going to be freely downloadable soon. So we will go from a world in which almost nobody was getting Mythos to a world in which everyone gets it. @davidsacks, what's your story on how we address this?

@big_duca I can see this unfortunately... crypto taxes are so incredibly maddening and people trying to do them for the first time have no idea just how intensive it is, even with the best software on earth... so can see how ones prone to being jerks could have that reaction x100...

I’m in the process of fully automating my accounting with AI, I kinda lost it when I went to see the accounts for 2025 and discovered the absolute mess that was left by my accountant. This is my current experience: - Fable is smart but sloppy, it will know very specific and elegant accounting doctrines, but will miss obvious reconciliations - 5.6 is a bit less smart but more robust, I wouldn’t let it perform advanced accounting but it’s good at raw dogging through movements, finding matches, inconsistencies, cleaning partners, etc.. more housekeeping work - You need quite a bit of prompt setup to slowly accumulate and enforce your company accounting doctrines - Once this is done, the automation works like this: I have a daily sweep instruction that first checks notes from the user (me), then download documents from various suppliers, payroll managers, legal platforms… all have their own skills to help with browser automation Once all is fetched, it’s uploaded and encoded in the accounting software, then all the moves are posted. Then banking sweep reconciles clients / suppliers accounts, and flags unreconciled moves older than 1 week -> create a task for the user to give the document or setup a fetcher skill Then heavy validation on all the posted moves, consistency, company doctrine respected, etc… Then full log of the daily sweep, with all the posted moves and their reasoning. And I can tell you the error rate is maybe 3 to 4 times lower than what a human would do

@marcmcg You know I think I didn’t know what this actually was… Calling it the index made me think it was an index of stocks. Feels like it’s actually really misleading marketing. And then you earned commission on people trading in and out of the index.

@big_duca Pretty cool but given that dividends rely on volume there’s a potential death spiral here. Attention fades -> price drops -> dividends drop -> attention fades etc If only the token was an actual index and represented real underlying value, while also taxing and paying dividends

Prob the most interesting company I’ve seen in a while. I became a user yesterday. $0.50 of dividends (on my way 😂) Awaken supports the streamed dividends automatically.

Boring but huge opportunity in fintech/AI roll ups is acquiring bail bond agencies: replace employees with voice AI, build a function that auto approved/rejects applicants, provide financing. - niche and boring use case - 10k bail bond agencies in the country - avg revenue is $250k - sold at a 1x EBITDA multiple - can cross sell financial services to them/their customers - can build a monopoly in that space within 24-36 months - acquire agencies using SBA loans, or seller financing Boring businesses is where the opportunity is at. What other boring use cases exist? FWIW I'm not building this. Came up with this when searching, but decided against it.

@wholisticguy @AwakenTax Does Fable not already understand most things? It don’t think you actually need a model trained specifically on public ledgers. You just gotta give the models a deterministic tool to work with that complies by tax rules etc.

Using Fable5 to work through my transactions for @AwakenTax via their new API, and I have to wonder, where is the dedicated AI model that has been trained on the pubic ledgers? Cheap fast and focused on that massive data set @big_duca - can you ask Kimi K3 to build you one?

Hey @big_duca - there is something weird going on with the skill and the API - there is some warning about a silent 100X error, one thing wants cents, another wants dollars. Anyway, the skill warns about it, but fable5 still made the mistake. So the skill or the API needs to be fixed so it actually works without stumbling onto the errors manually (like I just did). I am now enforcing a read after write rule for my model harness. That might be overkill, but for me it's worth it.

Crypto taxes are extremely fun. But if you wanna spend less time on them next tax season. You can use Awaken’s skill with Claude or Codex to help you. help.awaken.tax/en/articles/15…

@big_duca I’m not a gambler so memes never really interested me. Whereas RWAs have my interest. I like the fact they are backed and we can hold in self custody OR even use in Defi. Never did i think it would happen where we can LP stocks so easily.

I’m really excited for RWAs. I have no problem with memecoins. But the crypto industry has a churn problem. We constantly leak users. And having more asset classes that have different profiles. Is a possible antidote to the problem.
