Update on the computer labs we restored at Samre Preparatory School in Samre, Tigray (first video) and Tadelech Hailu High School in Adwa, Tigray (second video). Students and staff are actively using the computers with their current curriculum. We are proud to see our impact!

We have just finished the final 5 books for Level 6! 30 books in total done 💪🏽. Much appreciation writer Tesfaye Gudeta and illustrator Helen Papworth. Next up: two textbooks one for native speakers and one for non-native speakers.

Our team successfully delivered 9 Chromebook laptops thanks to the Tigray Development Association’s support with the shipment! High school students at Tadelech Hailu in Adwa will be using these laptops in the meantime while we complete the process of restoring their computer lab.

Our team successfully delivered 490 Midako Tigrinya textbooks to the remaining first grade classes in Adwa that previously did not have access to the books! Reading for all 💛

This week, on behalf of @restoretheml my family and I were able to distribute 600 notebooks to Mahbere Daego, 9 Chromebooks to Tadelech Hailu Highschool and 490 @MidakoP’s Tigrinya literacy books to various elementary schools in Adwa.

@Aminiyo3 @coldplague 56 % is actually an improvement. It was 60 % a couple of years back.

@Aminiyo3 @coldplague It was reported at Ethiopia Reads 4th National Annual Children's Reading Summit April 11 to 12, 2024 at Sapphire Addis Hotel. It was also reported that in Amhara region up to 70% (due to conflict) and in Afar over 90%.
