NEW: Here the govt is challenge what allies of Olly Robbins’ have told me, that he didn’t do anything wrong & was prevented by law from telling ministers Mandelson has failed vetting. This doc comes after No 10’s Friday night’s drop of the Tues evening meeting in which the PM was told the ‘recommendation from vetting officer had been DV should not be granted to Mandelson’, as No 10 attempts to shape the narrative ahead of PM’s crucial HoC appearance. Allies of Robbins tells me he feels aggrieved and is expected to make case he didn’t do anything wrong & thought doing his job by trying to mitigate risks highlighted in vetting report around Mandelson biz interests. PM already knew of Mandelson’s relationship with Epstein when his appointment was announced back in December 2025 before the DV process

We all have a pretty good idea of what’s on the cards for the local elections. Protest votes don’t get you anywhere, and they most certainly do not translate to general elections. Labour councils are already doing an excellent job across the country.

@BBCNews I find it quite incredible that the government can go into this level of detail about a very particular environmental hazard, but are still allowing water companies to dump millions of litres of raw sewage into our rivers, lakes and seas with very little consequence of substance.
