World Bank told Nigeria to reopen fuel imports because Dangote’s fuel was 12% more expensive than imports. Dangote called it flawed. World Bank quietly deleted the whole report from their website. Meanwhile Europe is buying refined fuel from the same Dangote refinery because Middle East supply got disrupted. The same Europe that used to sell Nigeria its own crude back as petrol. You can’t make this up. An African refinery finally works at scale and the first recommendation is not invest more, not expand capacity. It’s bring back imports. When Africa consumes nobody says a word. When Africa refines and competes suddenly it’s a problem.

Troubling disregard for ordinary citizens' safety and dignity, if true! Serious questions how power is exercised. One day we will surely look back on these moments with the reflection they warrant.

At a dinner in the White House, Charles III told Donald Trump: “I’ve noticed your changes to the East Wing. I must say, we Brits also, in our own modest way, tried to renovate the White House back in 1814.” I didn’t know that myself, but looked it up — in 1814, the British burned the White House. The king also gave Trump a bell from a decommissioned British submarine named “Trump”: “Ring it if you ever need us.” And this one: “You recently remarked, Mr. President, that if it weren’t for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Allow me to say that if it weren’t for us, you would be speaking French.” But the king didn’t just joke — he also reminded Trump about support for Ukraine and the role of NATO. Overall, Charles devoted his entire speech to subtly trolling Trump — in a very British way, so refined that it went right over the heads of MAGA supporters. They even applauded him for it! A British king and an American jester — that says it all. I love British humor!

Instead of watching an hour of Netflix, watch this 60 minute lecture from Steve Jobs after being fired from Apple. It will teach you more about building companies than most startup books ever will.

@andykristian @mkainerugaba Yes - improvement is needed but my heart was warmed this week when I walked down town & noticed the changes. The needle is moving. If this pace is maintained, should be faster, we could see a different city in 5 yrs. This place (behind cafe javas- Kla road) was a mess 5 yrs ago

In the past 2 years of our command of the MODVA, we have saved our country more than 2 trillion shillings from being stolen. In the next year we shall arrest ALL the thieves who were going to steal it. Foreigners are included!

Us who use Uganda Airlines now have a new problem, they strictly keep time. We had gotten used to delayed flights, so we'd be sure not to miss the flight even if we delayed to get to the airport. Now, try reaching late, you'll tell me how things went for you.

Dear @KKariisa, There is something deeply wrong with the direction your television stations are taking and it’s time I say it plainly. Across both @nbstv and @sanyukatv, morning shows have slowly turned into predictable cycles of political obsession. Same topic, same angles, same targets. You have platforms with national reach, you have influence, and you have the power to shape conversations that build this country. But what you choose to amplify is endless fixation on National Unity Platform. Every morning, it’s the same script: a panel, center the discussion around @NUP_Ug, recycle talking points and then move on. But let’s be honest; is this journalism or? Because it is beginning to look like programmed narrative control. Ugandans are dealing with real issues: Unemployment, Cost of living, Lack of practical skills, Broken systems in education and health But instead of meaningful programming that equips people, You decide to feed us with daily political loops that add no value to ordinary lives. What exactly can a young Ugandan learn from these failed politicians? How do they become better, how do they earn, how do they grow? Coz your stations are informing people about propaganda but not transforming their lives. The media should challenge minds, not condition them. It should expand opportunity, not narrow conversation to a single political fixation. And let me address something even more uncomfortable: When media platforms consistently push one direction of conversation, people begin to question independence, intent and the credibility and this is a dangerous place for any media house to reach because once trust is lost, no amount of production quality can restore it. Instead of Munyagwa noise disguised as analysis, give us programs that teach digital skills, highlight real entrepreneurs, break down opportunities for youth and inspire growth beyond politics. This is not an attack Sir, but a call to responsibility. You have built powerful platforms, now build purposeful content. Ugandans don’t just need to be informed, they need to be empowered. You can better Sir. Wasingya 🙏

This is BIG news. If only @mofpedU could share a detailed summary from the meeting otherwise having her visit and commit to support Uganda Day in China is a big deal. This comes after China announced zero tariff treatment for Ugandan Imports into China.
Ministry of Finance@mofpedU

UGANDA, CHINA EXIM BANK AGREE ON STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO ACCELERATE TENFOLD ECONOMIC GROWTH: Finance Minister @MatiaK5 has met a high-level delegation from the Export-Import Bank of China (China EXIM Bank), led by its Vice President, Dr. Yang Dongning. They are in the country to strengthen our partnership for accelerating Uganda’s industrialization and long-term economic transformation. Kasaija said Uganda’s next phase of growth will be anchored on ATMS - particularly; agro-industrialization, export expansion, and value addition in key sectors such as coffee, cotton, tea, and other agricultural products, as well as minerals including oil and gas, tourism, science, technology and innovation. The Minister said Uganda is positioning itself to fully leverage China’s zero-tariff policy and access to global markets by shifting away from the export of raw materials towards processing, manufacturing, and higher-value exports.  Kasaija who was flanked by the PSST Dr. @rggoobi on behalf of the Government of Uganda extended heartfelt gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for the long-lasting technical and financial support in various sectors ranging from transport, energy and health, among others. In a significant step to boost investment flows China EXIM Bank Vice President committed to support the organisation of a “Uganda Day” in China, which will serve as a dedicated platform to mobilise potential investors, showcase Uganda’s opportunities, and connect Ugandan enterprises with Chinese manufacturers and financiers. This initiative will anchor a broader push to strengthen economic and commercial diplomacy, deepen private sector linkages, and position Uganda as a preferred investment destination in Africa. Both sides agreed to scale up support for industrial parks, with a focus on improving land access, utilities, and logistics infrastructure to enhance productivity and attract large-scale investments. China EXIM Bank reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting Uganda’s development priorities and growth ambition through a diversified and modern financing framework, including: Trade finance to support Ugandan importers and exporters; Blended financing models combining loans and equity; Equity investments and strategic partnerships; Syndicated financing arrangements and a broader portfolio of tailored financial products  The Minister emphasised the importance of flexible and innovative financing structures to support large-scale investments and accelerate implementation of priority projects. Both sides further underscored the need to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET) to ensure a skilled workforce capable of supporting industrial expansion and meeting investor requirements.

A surgical center in rural Uganda runs entirely off-grid. Solar power. Teak screens, woven Nile reed ceilings, clay tiles made by local potters. This is what African architecture looks like when planned with intention. 📍 Kyabirwa Surgical Center, Uganda Design: George K. George
