@MihirHardas @KousiksarathyS @MohanRaghavan8 Because you can also design Tech around IKS. For eg IITH is developing VR to experience various historical places and temples. Also a lot of work on language is being done - developing tech. Yoga studios where tech can be installed for checking asanas.

I strongly urge people to look at the M.Tech / Executive M.Tech in Heritage Science & Technology at IIT Hyderabad. Because this is not just another degree. It is a serious attempt to study, strengthen and advance Indian knowledge systems with both rootedness and rigour.

#SpotSurvey Tell me frankly, in replies, what kind of advertising would you like to see for Hindu festivals? Do you want to see sad, mournful faces in washed out colours without a bindi like in the ad on the left, or a vibrant smiling face with a bindi like my picture on the right? If you agree with #NoBindiNoBusiness, say so out loud!

Lol this is hilarious. Don’t you people have any shame being so arrogant when you are so ignorant? The so called “authentic contemporary portrait” that you shared was painted in 1850 a full 250 years after Akbar’s death! It looks nothing like his original face. Instead of endlessly spewing clueless rants about historical scholarship and arrogantly advising Amish Tripathi about his research - maybe try using an actual contemporary portrait of Akbar painted during his lifetime instead? There are plenty of portraits of Akbar painted during his lifetime or immediately after his death where his central Asian features are self evident. They clearly depict him with features that suggest Central Asian / Turko-Mongol ancestry: high cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes, a broad forehead, and a relatively flat face compared to typical South Asian phenotypes. These traits are consistent with the Timurid lineage, as Akbar was descended from the Timurids on his father's side (Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, traced his ancestry to Timur and Genghis Khan). Here are some real authentic portraits painted by court artists from Akbarnama and other folios. Even the last official portrait of Akbar’s son Jahangir holding a painting of Akbar after his death, shows that he had the same Turko-Mongol facial features, reflecting his foreign ancestry. Maybe go read a book and learn what real research is next time before arrogantly posturing & making up BS about history first.

Does this man look Chinese to you? This is an authenticated contemporary painting of Emperor Akbar At a Lit Festival yesterday, @authoramish said that it was absurd that we think Akbar looked like Prithviraj Kapoor. As per him, to our eyes, he would've appeared Mongolian or Chinese Also that his language wasn't Urdu but Turkish/Persian Nobody had asked him about this! He said it on his own as an example of the historical absurdities we believe... and repeated it about three times. According to him Akbar was Central Asian, looked nothing like an Indian Now I see this as a real problem when we've left history in the hands of so called history narrators instead of history scholars, because make no mistake, it is a scholarly discipline If Mr Tripathi had done even a bit of research on either history or geography he would have come to know that while Akbar's court language was Persian, by his generation, the spoken language in the royal household was close to what is now Brij Bhasha & Haryanvi - what later evolved into Hindustani. Akbar incidentally also was very interested in Sanskrit and Sanskrit texts. Of course, he was famously illiterate so could not read/write in any language Back to geography and Prithviraj Kapoor. Mr Kapoor was born in Peshawar probably in the same mohalla my grandmother (my parents are both Peshawar born) If only Tripathi had picked up a map of Asia, he would have found that even Babar's birthplace is only about 700 km from Peshawar - about 30% less than the distance between say, Delhi and Patna. The world is, surprise surprise, a continuum where faces don't magically transform at borders of modern nation states. That is why many in Mumbai persistently mistake me for a Parsi or Irani. Or why Prithviraj's son had blue eyes 😊 The burden of Mr Tripathi's song was that all history is biased with an unstated corollary that therefore any made up version of history is as good or valid as an academic's This is a dangerous slope in any field History ultimately has to be based on original (preferably contemporary) accounts if available, as well as other sources like archaeology, architecture, sculpture etc A close friend of mine, a world renowned business strategy professor, once said to me, "I've more in common with a Ph D in History or Physics than I have with a management practitioner. My mindset is that of an academic". He has the discipline of researching everything from original research papers so much so that during Covid all of us in the batch gave up trying to keep up with the fast changing medical research & delegated it entirely to him to read the papers properly and advise us on the latest research, along with the caveats That is the discipline of #academics! This whole thinking that no rigor is required to start spouting your version of history or anything else at all makes me wince Even assuming earlier #history writings are biased they've to be refuted by proper #research, not made up stories!

I met Ami Ganatra yesterday, and honestly, it felt surreal. I’ve read her Ramayana and Mahabharata books, taken her Arthashastra course, and watched countless podcasts and talks over the years. I’ve been a long-time admirer. But meeting her in person was something else entirely. She is a woman of immense clarity, openness, and warmth. I found myself wishing she would just keep talking endlessly and I could keep listening to her! We even went out for dinner afterwards, and that experience stayed with me. Someone of her stature, a widely respected author, with rich global corporate exposure, an IIM background, and a truly brilliant mind, you tend to imagine the person to be a “certain way”. But she completely defies that expectation. She is warm, fun, and deeply relatable, across age groups. She speaks simply, yet her words carry immense depth. They don’t just sound wise, they land. They stay. Many people can say good things, but very few have the ability to truly penetrate our thick skulls and make something stick. She has that rare gift. The entire time, I couldn’t quite believe that I had this opportunity, to simply sit, listen, and absorb. Deeply grateful, @6amiji 🙏 What made it even more special, she signed books for both me and my daughter, Veda (who is also a big fan!). This morning, the moment I gave Veda her book, she was completely immersed. She didn’t want to leave her bed, just sat there reading. I literally had to pull her away, and now she’s back to it again! I thought I’d begin with Why Are We This Way?, but her children’s books are so engaging that I ended up finishing those first. And I loved them too! With every page, I kept thinking, Veda is going to love this… I must discuss this with her so it truly sinks in. Some experiences stay with you. This was one of them. 💛

A little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing. Especially when an uncouth, illiterate has the audacity to think he can distort history. Mughals looted India every chance they got. And a considerable amount of their loot went to the Islamic cities of Mecca & Medina. The rest of the loot was hoarded in their treasuries while common people starved and those who resisted their vile oppression were slaughtered. Hindus were stripped of their land, & taxed to starvation while many of our temples which used to hold the world' largest treasuries of wealth - were plundered and destroyed. A record of exact statistics on Mughal money sent to Mecca begins with Akbar in 1576, who sent Rs. 600,000 with costly gifts like 12,000 dresses of honor & extra cash for constructing a Khanqah. The average salary for a normal Indian at this time was just 3 rupees per month. In 1577, Akbar sent Rs. 500,000 Rupees & 10,000 Khilats to distribute in Mecca. Another Rs. 100,000 & costly gifts for the Sharif of Mecca. In 1578, Rs. 400,000 were sent. Meanwhile desperate starving Indians turned to cannibalism while reeling from 2 huge famines under Akbar. Since the time of Akbar, the Mughals snatched away the land of Lakhs of Hindu villagers if they dared to refuse to pay the tribute forcefully extracted from them. They were labelled “criminals”. Mughal generals would destroy villages, & chop Hindu's heads to display in the royal square, then hang them on trees or pillars to create terror. Manucci describes seeing 10,000 such heads once with hair shaven & moustaches reddened by blood. Every tower held 100 heads. In the 34 years that Manucci lived in Mughal provinces, he would see thousands of fresh beheaded Hindu heads everytime he travelled from Agra to Delhi. The stench of the corpses was so strong that travelers had to hold their noses & rush past the macabre towers of horror. Jahangir continued siphoning off the loot to the Islamic homeland when he became king In 1605, sending Rs. 100,000 to the Sharif of Mecca. In 1622, he again sent Rs. 200,000 to be utilized in trade & all the profits were distributed to the poor in Mecca NOT Indians. In 1628, Shahjahan who was a violent Islamic zealot at heart became king. He reintroduced Jizya tax to oppress Hindus, & immediately sent half a million rupees to Mecca, showering Lakhs more over the next decade. The Sharifs of Mecca were so grateful that they gifted him the key to the Kaaba. From 1645 to 1650, Shah Jahan send over a Million Rupees to Mecca along with costly gifts like candlesticks studded with 100 carat diamonds worth Lakhs more. In the meantime his exploitative policies created a devastating famine in 1630-32 which killed 7 million+ Indians in Gujarat & Deccan alone. Shahjahan did nothing to help the dying famine victims. But he did have enough time to fill 2 huge treasure houses full of stolen gold & silver, each 70ft by 30ft or total 4200 sq ft. (Fort Knox vault is 4000 sq ft & holds~ $290 Billion) In 1659, when Aurangzeb the rabid Islamic fanatic snatched the throne the first thing he did was send Rs. 7 Lakhs to Mecca, which was accepted by the Sharif in 1662. Aurangzeb enforced a yearly fee of Lakhs to be sent to Mecca & even endowed Muslims in Mecca with yearly stipends! While he oppressed Hindus with Jizya, Aurangzeb continued to send millions in money & gifts throughout his life to Mecca. In typical Mughal tradition he also ensured that millions of Indians died in a famine created by his bloodthirsty lust for power from 1662-1665. Aurangzeb’s own official Islamic biography Maāsir-I-Ālamgiri itself lists him proudly destroying 300+ Hindu temples in Mewar in just one year alone (1680) in his hateful quest to forcibly convert India into Islam. Where do you think all the wealth from so many hundreds of plundered Hindu temples went? His taxation was so oppressive that even his sister and son pleaded with him to reduce the burden on people. Aurangzeb refused to even consider it. Even when the last descendants of the Mughals were floundering to save their empire, they ensured that Indian money was sent to their Islamic homeland in Mecca. We are told to cry for the wretched condition of the last vestiges of the Mughal Empire, but the last remnants like Farrukhsiyar & Bahadur Shah 1 themselves enforced an annual subsidy of Rs. 100,000 to Mecca & sent millions in gifts as well. The Timurids robbed Hindus of billions of $$ of wealth & sent it all to their Islamic homeland while starving millions of Hindus to death. Anybody who looks at the evidence objectively can see that. Gone are the times when we were ignorant of our history and would let you get away with the lies. Best for ignorant losers to zip their mouths now - because "Sanghis" are carrying receipts these days.

Mughals looted India? And took the loot where? That's why India was the richest kingdom in the world at that time? Little knowledge is a dangerous things, but is the basis of Sanghi confidence.

Just a disclaimer - if anyone has questions about any sources quoted in my tweets, I’ll be more than happy to discuss them with you. But if you begin the conversation by calling me “Honda Sherni” or any other stupid insults in the first place - then you will get an automatic block from me. My first instinct at any sign of disrespect or abuse is to block. I have dealt with way too many abusive fools to care anymore. Take it as you wish.

Now that SC has stayed UGC regulation, and there is a bit of breather here is what I want to say. 1990 was a year that changed my life forever. In August 1990, my mother and I fled Kashmir valley. We were the last Hindu family in our neighborhood to flee, because my mother kept hoping against hope that somebody would save us. Nobody did. Ultimately we decided to leave our home. Only home we had. A kind Sikh truck driver agreed to drive us till Jammu and then we were on our own. We sat huddled in the back of that truck too afraid to even weep. We had no belongings except few clothes in a bag and a bundle of papers my mother held close to her bosom in the entire journey. These were her certificates from school and college. She was hoping to find a job based on those certificates. I was too young to have any certificates yet. But she did and that was all we had. Her degrees. Somehow we managed to find roof on our heads in Faridabad, near Delhi. We thought this would at least be an end to some of our miseries.Lo and behold Mandal agitation started. This was a double whammy. Now we were suddenly ‘upper caste’ and for reason unknown to us, Govt of the time had turned against us. We were not privileged, we were not rich, we were so worn down by Islamists that we had no time to reflect on our so called ‘privilege’. But this moment produced a stunning epiphany. We had not been prosecuted in Kashmir valley for our caste. We had been ethnically cleansed because of our faith. It just did not make sense why would Hindus not unite against this existential threat. When Advani ji gave a call of Hindutva and asked everyone to rise above their caste, it made sense to me. In fact that is the only thing that made sense to me. Hindutva keeps Bharat together and Bharat is where Dharma thrives. I often remember that visual of my mother clasping her certificates in one hand and holding my head with her other hand. Many so called ‘privileged castes’ have only one thing to fall back upon. Education and hard work. That is why these UGC regulations were bad faith laws because it takes away freedom from students for whom education is the only passport to success. Regardless of which caste they belong to. Why create battlefields in the campuses? These students will anyway enter the works full of landmines when their education is over. My humble appeal to the legislators who draft laws and to the Executive who implement laws is this - Don’t do anything that will create further divisions. And my humble appeal to protestors - Dharma is what keeps us together. Dharma is what gives us courage to fight. Dharma will protect us from our enemies. Stay together. Stay United.
