@k_sonin Putin probably still has significant support in Moscow and St Petersburg, and those cities are not in immediate danger from rebels. However, Putin’s promise of prosperity and security for Russians has now been shown to be hollow, after his disastrous full scale invasion of 🇺🇦.

One small observation. Tell me that Putin is popular in Russia. A group of officers and soldiers took over Rostov-on-Don, a city of 1.15 million, the 10th largest in the country. Zero resistance from the police, zero protests from locals.

Interesting side effect is that secular israelis see that orthodox families have many kids and it inflence them to get more kids too.

Having returned home it's very apparent the effect russia has done to the Ukrainian people, before the invasion most people I knew in southern Ukraine spoke Russian, I myself spoke Russian with the local Store workers, when I came back they were delighted to see me and said they had been following us in the news and were thankful that we were now here. I noticed when speaking to them again this time a lot more people chose to speak in Ukrainian, some times when I would speak in Russian some would reply in Ukrainian. This is what Russia has done, Speaking Russian in Ukraine was never a problem but now your imperialist ambitions have turned a whole country against you even the Russian speakers who you tried to say you were protecting, the only protection they need is from you!
