🚨 A JOURNALIST JUST FILMED INSIDE THE NEWARK ICE PROTEST CAMP. READ THAT AGAIN: Nick Sortor went in with a hidden camera. What he found wasn't a spontaneous protest. It was a fully operational logistics base. – Tens of THOUSANDS of dollars in equipment already on site – Riot gear. Not signs. Not banners. RIOT EQUIPMENT. – Hot food delivered every single hour, on schedule – Medical sections, expensive tents, organized supply chains – This is outside Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark, NJ – Protests have been running for over a week — round the clock – Andy Ngo documented week-long violence by Antifa at the same facility – State police had to intervene just to restore basic order – Nobody is asking who is paying for hourly catered deliveries to a protest camp – Nobody is asking who sourced the riot equipment – Nobody is asking who coordinates the resupply logistics for a week-long operation This is not a group of angry citizens who showed up with signs. This is a funded, staffed, continuously resupplied operation with riot capability. Someone is writing checks for this. Someone is organizing the deliveries. Someone made sure the equipment arrived. The protesters didn't just open a door that CANNOT be closed. The funders did. And nobody is looking for them. Follow and turn on notifications before it's too late.

@VNkRYdJbkrlzNnv Stress fractures are a bad sign this early in his professional career. Hopefully he and the Rockies learn from this.

@now_arsenaI Josh is the real winning owner. I’m glad he took over. He’s been doing an insanely good job with KSE.

Josh Kroenke reveals he took Mikel Arteta to an NFL American football game and the Arsenal boss broke down the match in a way he’d never seen before. Josh Kroenke on what Mikel Arteta said to him: “Every single play is a set-piece. Every play is choreographed and he took that back to Arsenal with him a few years ago. Since then we’ve scored more choreographed goals than any other team in the world. “Take the goal against Newcastle at home as a brilliant example. We won that game and we went on to win the title.”

Are you aware of the leagues under the top flights? The structure builds a hierarchy of clubs built by the fans and legendary players who shaped them side by side. Built on history, culture and consistency over decades. Some dominate the to for periods of time. Whatever. Look at Inter Miami vs the Rapids. Same idea. It’s about more than the soccer you see on international tv. It’s about community building through sport.

@MikeCherneski @ESPNInsights @ESPNFC So real competition is having 3 teams share a trophy and 17 teams that vary from good to poor? Not 34 teams with the same handicap? Makes sense.

@denverpost LMFAO and the Rapids are so far in stepchild territory that the Avs think they’re the burgundy headed stepchild. The Pids don’t even have a working scoreboard. 😂

@MALGIS31 @bwfast Businesses aren't meant to last if they're unsuccessful. Different league levels have different budgets anyway. Prorel creates legitimacy in the US professional soccer system. MLS closes off the "top flight" to protect owners. That's what needs to open up.

@MikeCherneski @bwfast Yes but the choice is sell this prospect or go out of business. It’s unlikely their support will be that great. They avg 6K/game. Prorel isn’t going to cause that to go up. Btw…. More open than what? I see lots of teams building something.

It is tricky for USL because promotion/relegation needs to happen throughout the entire USA soccer pyramid - not just one league or group of leagues. The USL effort is a good start but it is not the full version of #ProRelforUSA yet.
Andrew Clune@andrewclune24

@bwfast I highly doubt hundreds of USA teams will pop up and be successful under a pro/rel system. I think the USL are making mistake with their plan to implement pro/rel in 2028.

@pwc002 @ESPNInsights @ESPNFC True. I respect and appreciate the league for what it's done for the game in the US up to this point. Still many owners are pushing back on any idea of promotion/relegation. A system proven to create grassroots soccer culture. That culture is what grows the game domestically.

@MALGIS31 @bwfast Selling players is a choice. Well supported teams weather financial storms. At least the opportunity is more open to owners trying to build something.

@MikeCherneski @bwfast Perhaps but if they do those players will get sold to MLS or some other higher league. Teams will HAVE to just stay solvent.

Two major, MLS and USL. MLS is current “top flight” because they have the richest owners and biggest stadiums. won’t because owners act like owning a team is passive income. USL is “lower” but moving to promotion and relegation soon. It is structured similar to England’s system.

@MALGIS31 @bwfast I’m mostly talking strategic partnerships to drive viewership based on grassroots community interest. Players will come or develop over time if the fundamentals are there.

@MikeCherneski @bwfast Moves won’t do it. They need money. Lots of it. And more viable markets. They can’t get by with 5-9K stadiums. I don’t see any influx of cash coming from anywhere.
