The vast majority of independence supporters have no interest in joining the USA.
That won't stop independence opponents from trying to claim otherwise though.

I don’t think that Albertan’s who want independence from Ottawa necessarily want to become a U.S. state. They would be perfectly happy living as an independent state with trade arrangements with America. There’s nothing fringe about the movement to pull away from Canada.

Aimed directly at the minority of Albertans who really don't realize that America is just going to take the oil and give them nothing. No citizenship. No mobility rights. No 1:1 dollar conversion. Why would they? If Alberta leaves, they have no leverage. Just a $500B loan to pay off. Marks. Easy marks.

No matter how much money Americans pour into Alberta's separatist movement Albertans will massively reject leaving Canada. We now have a PM actively working with western Premiers to increase trade and build new projects.
