@NikRule @smallcollegeath @NAIA I thought Courtney Thompsen's data presentation was eye opening.

To elaborate. I spent the last three days at the @smallcollegeath convention in Chicago. It’s one of the only times administrators from @NAIA, D2, D3, JC etc get together in the same room in a place we can all socialize and exchange ideas. I think institutions are going to have to deeply think about how they use athletics. Schools that have never viewed athletics as an enrollment or revenue driver may have to, this includes state schools. Schools already using that model are going to need more from it. Historical affiliations and the places that have always “felt right” may be tested against financial realities and opportunities that weren’t seriously considered before. Administrators are also going to have to drive more of the big-picture decision making. That may mean putting institutional sustainability and the overall student-athlete experience ahead of where coaches simply prefer to coach or compete. I think many of the biggest… and perhaps most uncomfortable…decisions will come within the NAIA and NCAA Division II spaces. Not necessarily just because schools will move from one to the other, but because institutions in those two divisions often share similar challenges, pressures and realities. And that’s not even mentioning the fallout and downstream impact of the decisions being made at the Division I level. I also believe organizations like the USCAA and NCCAA could benefit as more institutions begin to look at athletics differently. Rising costs, enrollment realities and changing student behavior will force colleges to find stronger ways to create connection and give students a reason to choose their institution. Those that don’t have athletics, probably look at it as a key enrollment and net revenue opportunity. Those to organizations can be a viable start for a new department. The next era of college athletics isn’t going to be driven by comfort. It’s going to be driven by math, and it’s different math than the blue bloods.

My next big goal is to host a clinic for high school throws coaches. If you were a throws coach what are some things you would be looking for in a clinic?

@ChrisParno I've heard of a trick using Gmail where you add .nameofcompany to your email address and then when jt gets sent to that extension you'll know who sold your email address. I don't know what you're supposed to do then, but I have heard of this trick.

Day 7, 537 (from the day I turned 18) to today of unsubscribing from email lists that I have no idea how I got on. Today: -American Red Cross (10th to 12th attempt) -Kahoot -NCSA (at least the 5th try) -Something called "Big Pear Daily: Midwest"

@MikeCunningham @milesplit Sadly not many sprinters. Chances are better for distances runners out of HS to have a shot. Sprinters that % is much lower

Absolutely fascinating research by @milesplit! My favorite stat is that only 14% of all NCAA qualifiers were transfers! What stood out to you the most?

Milesplit has got the receipts. Pulling data for you, no more feelings. Love this. Big 12 recruits....over 70% high school recruits! Go look at the average marks they have when signed. COLLEGE COACHES, P4 COACHES, DEVELOP ATHLETES.
