Once took a wounded deer at 600 yards with my 44 Magnum S&W Model 29 with my 250 gr bullets. In a reclining position, my first 4 shots were missed, but looking at the splashes in the snow, I was able to walk it on target for the 5th and 6th hits. “Sixguns” (1961)

@MagnumKeith Attempting this shot is inexcusable. A lowly .30/30 has over twice the energy of a .44 magnum, and no one in their right mind would try a shot at 600 yards with a .30/30. Elmer was a one of a kind, but that doesn't make it right.

@MagnumKeith There's nothing like a humane kill, and this is nothing like a humane kill ☹️ Energy of a 250gn .44 slug at 600yds is paltry. I used to shoot 240gn's at 300m paper targets. Would never dream of taking game at twice that distance
