Tight ends taken after the Texans drafted Marlin Klein at 59 and before their next pick at 106: Max Klare, Sam Roush, Oscar Delp, Will Kacmarek, Eli Raridon. (Nate Boerkircher went earlier at 56.) These were the in-line Y blocking TEs, roughly 6’6”, 250 lbs with receiving upside, that I wanted the Texans to target. The only others left in that mold were Matthew Hibner, Joe Royer, and Jack Endries, who I viewed as a tier below. You can argue for trading back, but Nick Caserio said a few deals fell through. That doesn’t signal panic. It points more toward Klein being a priority, even if they potentially missed out on adding a bit of extra capital by not moving down slightly. This TE group was deep, solid, and imo, underrated by consensus. The run between rounds 2-4 reflect that. There’s also a fair argument they could’ve gone another position at 59 and tried to trade back up. But that requires capital, and Y TE was a legitimate need for this roster, one they clearly didn’t want to risk missing out on.

The Texans are selecting Michigan TE Marlin Klein with the 59th pick. Klein is your traditional “Y” tight end who will dominate at the POA and has room to grow as a great athlete.
